Hi macaroni, and welcome! We could swap doormat stories -- putting them in writing or saying them out loud seems to emphasize how ridiculous they are. This program has been really helpful for me to shift my perspective and counter the barrage of criticism that plays over and over and over and over in my head. Well done for taking action -- I'm sure you'll get a lot out of this site.

Thank you for the welcome. My doctor is treating me for depression with medication for the umpteenth time there is much family history of depression my feelings affect my self esteem and relationships I think who would want to know me I'm told by work colleagues (I'm off sick at the moment) that I;m a lovely person but I struggle to believe them and tend to cover my insecurity with comedy I make funof me to save others having to do it. I feel fine....Freaked out....Insecure.....Neurotic.......Emotional. I;m going to take my time and follow the programme and wait and see

macaroni, Welcome to our support community. Good for you for being active, no matter what your age :) Take the time to take the depression test and discuss it with your doctor. This can help better assess the situation for you both. Work with the program to help guide you forward and provide knowledge and support. I've just found this site and at 58 and counting I hope there is time for me to improve my negative feelings about myself which I seem to have had most of my adult life. I am wary of offers of help as I feel I am not worthy and don't deserve anything nice for myself I struggle to buy a cup of coffee if out but I'll get anything anyone else wants sometimes the only thing I can compare myself with is a doormat but thats when I'm really down othertimes I can be a nice rug for people to walk on. I don't mean that to sound faceous but .....
