Hello everyone,
Is there anyone here trying to quit smoking who also has ADHD?
Claire, a MSc Health Psychology student, is carrying out a research project through the University of Derby exploring how smokers who also have ADHD perceive their smoking behaviour in relation to their diagnosis.
Claire believes that if they can find out motivations for smoking in people with ADHD then this can improve smoking cessation programs to this population.
To take part you must meet the following criteria: be 18 years old and over, have ADHD as diagnosed by a health professional, be a smoker for at least 2 years, and be able to understand spoken and written English.
Your participation will remain confidential and anonymous and is completely voluntary. You may also withdraw from the research up to two weeks after participation.
The study has two stages: firstly, you will be sent an Invitation to Participate and a Participant Information Sheet. When you have read these documents carefully, you can click on the link that will take you to the Informed Consent Form and the Demographics and Participant Questionnaire which is a short questionnaire which will take approximately two minutes to complete.
When you have completed the Informed Consent Form and the Demographics and Participant Questionnaire, you can contact Claire at c.jeeves1@unimail.derby.ac.uk to arrange an audio-only Skype interview at a date and time convenient to you. All your information will be kept anonymous and confidential as per the British Psychological Society's Ethical Principles for Conducting Research with Human Participants (downloadable from www.bps.org.uk).
If you are interested in participating in this study, please send an email to c.jeeves1@unimail.derby.ac.uk for more information. There is no obligation to participate.
Thank you.
