The sun is stationary, every thing rotates around it and the earth rotates around itself but it tilts so the sun appears higher in the summer. Because of this low fences have little effect on the amount of sunlight you get. Solar panels are aimed for winter sun when you need more power.

Pole beans grow quite tall and purple ones are the best. I cut 16 2x2s today to make four quadrapods. for them. Might rain tomorrow so I mowed lawn instead of putting them up. Increased the gear ratio in the tiller to make it faster in ratio to the tractor so it fluffs better. Ground is still a bit wet. Running out of time, plants have to go in or do without. So much to do. Mosquitoes come out in the evening now. Still not bad though. None during the day. Need to switch mowers now so I can do around the pond. Wish I had a tractor for each piece of equipment. but that would be six tractors.

You know as soon as the plants are in I need to start weeding. Right now I'm just weeding flower beds.

I didn't get to garden, but did use a hedge trimmer to clear an area for beans. I'm not sure where it's ideal. Using power tools is empowering, since I can do so much with a button. It's like someone pushing your emotional button(s), but you're actually doing something productive.

I have an area I might use near a fence, but being to close to the fence would block the south facing sun. There's so much to learn about the world, like astronomy, since I'm not sure how the sun moves in orbit relative to the earth. I could move it away from the fence anyway, since that fence is opaque, and then I could move around the other side.

Davit..Good luck with the labs today and getting all signed up for assistance a home again. Oh ya and fixing that darn tractor leak..interesting info about the antifreeze..Hooking the pump on the fountain to water would make it a real conversation piece...Thanks for the Well Wishing. I changed my avatar to an iris, as a reward for doing laundry, although a nightdress got caught in the rollers to the clothesline. I'll have to clean that, since it looks dirty, and makes the clothesline dirty.

Neighbours closed up a hole and it seems there is a squirrel inside their addition. An acquaintance was very unhappy about it, and kept crying like a baby. I was out of it today, and just did the minimum, since I overextended myself. Gardening has its rewards as we post the beautiful flowers we cultivate, so there's a lesson there, that I hope will spill over, and has, to the rest of my life.

Hi Red

It is almost one in the morning, I was in a chat room with a lady from the States and one from England. Good conversation. I'm becoming more social. Not many people on at this time of night. English are just getting up.

Anyway I have a monthly blood test this morning then need to sign papers to get back on home support if I want it. After that I have to get Rad hose and antifreeze to fix a leak in my tractor. Interesting thing, in California they use antifreeze because it cools better than water and doesn't rust. But if we use straight anti freeze here it gels and the heater won't put out.

I have a lovely grain roller complete with driveline but have plastic in the hopper and flowers planted in it. I have flowers in my manure spreader and it is attached to a spare tractor so I can move it to mow. The tractor is only good for that now.

I have two other tractors, a small one for mowing and a bigger one for tilling and discing. Two have loaders so I can lift heavy stuff and move around dirt and manure. And of course there is the snow to move in the winter.

I have around three acres of deer pasture to mow. An acre is 208 feet by 208 feet I also have the path around the ponds to mow. I have a different mower to do up to the water on one of the ponds. Geese have left to go to the river, no babies again. They are old, but still nest. Quiet without them. Still have ducks sometimes.

I was going to put a valve in that pump on the bird bath and run a hose to it. It will actually thread right onto a yard hydrant. But the handle would be backwards.

Hello Davit..

Heritage lilac and over 50 years in your valley..It is a real beauty. I just love the bright clean white..I guess I will have to start looking for lilac to put in my garden next year..She sure will give the roses a run for the money..I am looking forward to seeing your pic's as you put them up..I really liked you bird fountain with the hand pump on top, very interesting indeed..I have a thing for pumps and engine as you know too..We found a old belt driven grinder at the swap meet today which Edd is going to clean up and convert so he can run it with a flat belt on one of his hit and miss engines..It hasn't gotten hard to find any shows to show in now..The hobby is dieing out in California, but he still loves tinkering with the engines. Most likely always will..I found a lovely little pearlized per sugar bowl with violets on it today..Just what the display case needed to brighten it up..Spend most of the afternoon shifting through fishing tackles boxes and throwing out the old bad stuff and replacing it with some new hooks, floats, bait and sinkers..Still thinking about fishing and remembering the good times I had doing it..Not sure when and if I am going to go again yet but I sure like thinking about it..

Well better go for now and get some shut eye...

I have a busy week starting tomorrow..Dr. appt with Gastro on Wednesday and and my grandson's junior high school graduation to attend on Thursday..Lot of early morning travel for the latter one..it is a 1 hour at least in the heavy Calif traffic...I am so happy I was invited..It was a great day today and I even got to talk to my grand daughter on the phone..She is turning 10 this month and is very excited about her birthday..She wants a Pool Blue task lamp for her bedroom redo as they call it, for her birthday..So her mom and I shopped for it together over the the phone on our laptops today..Yes it was a very good day..and it is going to be a good sleeping night tonight too.

Hi Red

It is a heritage lilac that has been in the valley probably over 50 years, maybe more. The guy who brought it to the valley has been long dead. his son doesn't know the name. I have three bushes. Fourth one got ringed by voles. My blue ones, no name either, should flower next year. two did this year but they are small. I put well rotted manure around them last year.

I only got half the lawn mowed before I got rained out. It is okay. Dandelion season is almost over, I'm tired of them.

Sunny's flower bed is getting flowers now, soon I will take pictures. Unfortunately they won't come all at once. This rain is good for the two small flower beds up the hill behind the greenhouse. I put in 150 plants. Monkshood and something else I don't know in the back then Tiger lilies and Iris. I need to see if I can get some Iris off my friend Betty, she has different colours. Only one of the Yellow Rose I got from her survived. The Elderberry I got from her is doing good. It makes excellent jelly but wine that is far too dry and has too much tannin. Some people do like it.

The Black Current I got from Karen the nurse is full of berries. As are the Saskatoon berries. I scrounge plants that will survive here. I can't tell if my plum set fruit yet.

There are so many plants I could get for free but I don't have room for them yet. I do love the ones Sunny brought best.

I wish I could grow roses like yours they are so nice. I'm stuck with things like Hansa's as a fool proof come up every year rose. Sunny's two roses got a lot of winter damage but are coming okay.

Can't believe this, large patches of blue sky and it is raining.

Gardening teaches a person patience and tolerance.

I don't like to lose a plant but I have so many I'm bound to. And it is only because I don't like to lose. I live close to nature, things die.

Sun is out and I have a tractor to fix, not what was planned but that is okay. I can't get the hose till tomorrow. What I really need to fix is my troybuilt. There are a few places the tractor is too big for.

I planted beets, dill, swisschard and spinach today. Too hot to put out brassicas. It is lunch time and I am tired. Lilac is nearly in full bloom.

Transplanting a favourite plant of mom's which declined due to negligence(and my lack of time) was emotional, since it felt like a death in the family. I didn't wish to upset mom, as I attempt to revive it. Maybe I'll just buy another? Has anyone felt "emotional" about losing a plant?
