I'm glad you can ride. My bike is hanging in the garage and will probably stay there unless I buy balance wheels for it. I can ride just that when I stop I fall over. I loved to ride,

I got my bike out this morning and have ridden it around the block several time today. I was going to give it to charity today because I didn't think I could ride it anymore because of my 2 hernias but I took it out for a spin instead.

Looks like the donation truck will only be picking up the treadmill today because I decided to keep the bike for a while instead of giving it up just yet..I guess I am not ready to give up yet and I do like the exercise to burn off nervous energy/tension and anxiety. So I guess I will give it a spin around the block as needed for now..
I also have a stationary bike that I can ride inside when it is too hot outside or when there is to much car traffic to safely ride outdoors on the street but I really Love the Freedom and the Feel of riding outdoors with the wind blowing through my hair..It's the next best thing to riding a motorcycle..

I would be considered fit for my condition. You see my limiting factor is the damage that gives me limited movement. And the pain that keeps me from standing or walking very far. Sitting I'm fine as long as I move. Sitting at this computer is harder than driving my tractors, even the one without power steering. Washing the floor is harder than weeding. Yet I try to do as much without sitting so I won't lose what is left. Still I have places to sit and my weeding bench so I can spend the long hours I need to weed. And look around and listen to the birds and smell the flowers. All a matter of balance.
People don't realize how lucky they are to just be able to do it. Still I think I am happier than most. It is an attitude and we all know how important attitude is. Oh and I do sleep very well.
I consider myself blessed to have done all the things I did do before Arthritis got bad and the things I still do. I could have been born disabled. Or lazy.
In the end, what you have is memories, make them good.

KT,
I was unfit most of my life, but its different when you get second looks since you fit differently in clothes.  As for the health aspect, I can sleep so much better, and have more energy.  Any form of activity is great for us, according to studies finding that blending activity thru the day is optimal.

Chores are my way of pumping it up. I actually enjoy having a project and feeling productive. My cleaning and organising list is a whole page long, and I'm drawing up my plans for a veggie garden in my backyard. I was going to do the measurements for the timber today, but it's been raining all day so I sorted out my wardrobe instead.

I'm too unfit to go to the gym. ;)

I'm sorry but I have never had time for the Gym. It takes time to go and time is something I don't have enough of. I used to Cycle on the weekend up to 50 miles (80KM) and still find time for my chores. I used to ski 34 miles in the winter also.

Times change, I can't do that anymore and don't have the time anyway.

Exercise is part of  my daily life, but I also go to the gym.  To my surprise, I find that I have worked up to nearly 3/4 of a mile every 3rd day on a treadmill, just by increasing it slowly, over a  long time.

Today I also did laundry, and chores all add up to a faster metabolism.  Today I've hung some laundry outside, picked up some bags of soil, and cooked(I use far too many plates!).

Does anyone remember the former governor of California Arnold S., and his bodybuilding phrase "pump it up"?

Do you pump it up daily, in the gym or as part of work or chores?
