Thanks everyone! Yes, it was great. We went up to Jasper, TN, (near Chattanooga but much prettier,) for a World Trials Event. We were there for 4 days. Then we moved on to Gatlinburg where we made our "base-camp" @ a nice motel w/ balconies overlooking Little River & explored Cades Cove, Tuckaleechee Caverns, Clingman's Dome, and as much of the Smokies as we could squeeze in. We came home thru Cherokee & by that time J.D. was fairly tired of driving so we took the quicker, less scenic route & I finally finished a book I'd been trying to get thru. (No, the book didn't turn out to be as life-changing as I'd hoped. Oh, well.)
I didn't experience any unexpected triggers or cravings but when we made an unplanned stop in Snellville,GA on the way home due to very bad weather I was definitely slapped in the face w/ one the many reasons I quit. The closest motel had only one room left: A smoking room. Naturally I pictured a smoldering Ho Jo's but I gotta tell ya, I don't remember ever experiencing that before! It smelled awful. I actually found it difficult to breathe & I could feel my sinuses starting to do whatever they do that's very unpleasant. Now, I try not to be one of those quitters that whines everytime someone smokes near me. But this was bad. We brought in a few things just to get thru the night & the next morning, but then rushed out to get something to eat & to get away from the smell! But, it seemed worse when we went back than it had the first time. Maybe back in the days when J.D. & I were both active smokers I just didn't notice. But, people, that was gross. I tried to set the bedside alarm but all the buttons were sticky. Eeww! (Believe me, it was definitely not the cheapest place either!) The next day we packed up quickly & got back on the road. I didn't think about the nasty room again until we got home & I went to start the inevitable mountain of laundry. The things that we had worn into the room, the things that we had slept in & the clothes we put on that morning in the room still wreaked! Yuck! My Summer vacation served a bonus purpose of reminding me again why I quit. I'm back & I'm as determined as ever.
Don't smoke, okay? It's bad for you.
Cold Turkeys prefer to be UNscented, thank you.
