Good Morning, It's like the UpperClassMen say - "take what you need and leave the rest". Only you know when you need a little "check in" to the SSC. I come for support and also just because I know someone is there who is like me. Look at it this way - do old friends get mad if you don't have the time to talk to them everyday? No, they like ya just the same. It's great that you feel like you can go do other things and feel stronger, congratulations on the tough times you have endured. There will be other times you will want to come here for some kind words or advice. It's always here when you need it. When the world is a little unkind, somebody here will have the right words to help your day get easier. Keep up the great work. Hey dswill-I did the same thing yesterday. I worked in my front yard and every once in awhile I felt like ... it's time for a mini-break, I think I'm suppose to do something now, it was weird. Hi Shelly, :) Interesting question... I've pondered it as well. I think for me atleast, it's not only the satisfaction I get from reading other peoples post's... knowing that someone else has roughed out this journey before. It's also the hoping that maybe I can help someone through the rough times. Let them know they are not alone. I've been here alot as well. The first 2 weeks of my quit, I was here about 6 hours per day. As I get stronger, I'm here less. And with my work, I even be here less and less. But I know that I will never stay away from here! Hi Everyone, Thank you so much! You guys are the GREATEST! I was afraid I was hiding behind the board and I should be getting out more and testing my wings. Yesterday I did pull away a little. I work in my flowerbeds pulling weeds and getting them ready for planting. It took me around 4 hours and I finally got done. Well this is the time you reach for the Cig and sit back and look at your accomplishment. I�m telling myself the flowerbed will look just as nice with or without that Cig. That Cig craving got the best of me and I hightailed back to the computer and headed right for the SSC site. For me, I think I will test my wings but will still stay close to my second home, and my new family at SSC. I hope someday I will be as strong and wise as you all and can help others on their journey. You all are the BEST! Hi Everyone, I�m now into my quit 10 days, I have made it without one puff and I�m also going Cold Turkey. 2 days ago I had an anger issue, pity party, and I want to say a SPECIAL thanks to my Email friend for listening! I know I have a long road ahead of me and there will be a few bumps in the road. (I�m not trying to quit I have quit) I spend most of my days on the SSC website. Reading posting, going through my glove compartment and re-reading my quit plan, etc. I also spend time reading Allen Carr�s book, and it has helped a lot, and I do recommend it for anyone new or that is struggling, it is great. My question is? Can you spend too much time at SSC? After 10 days is it safe to start pulling away a little? I truly believe if it was not for all of you I would not of made it this far and it is a little scary to let go of some of that. I�m starting to become a stronger person, and I must say it does feel good. I really believe our mind has a lot to do on how well we handle our quit and that is what I�m working on now. So what do you think? Is it safe to pull away a little? Hey let me just tell you....I am 50 some days into my quit and this is the first time ever that I didn't check in here for like 3 days in a row!!! I thought I had picked up another addiction!! It as well as the withdrawl will subside....then it's nice to offer support to others once you gain some insight into your quit!! Also, it is always nice to post your milestones!! Everyone here knows how hard each milestone is to reach!! Also, it's your time to spend right? Spend it how you like, if that means hanging out here so you dont smoke then so be it!! Hi Shelly. Everyone's quit is different and different people need different things. For some, coming here too often is too much. As for me, look at my meter... If I'm not mistaken I have been here every day since day 6. Some days more than others. Do whatever works for you. All that matters is that you stay smoke free. dswill, I think each individual person is different. Some can leave earlier in their quits than others and be fine. For me, I've found that when I'm gone for a few days, the nicodemon really calls my name (screams is more like it) and I find that I'm more likely to mess up... but that's just me. If you're comfortable, then go for it! But check in every once in a while to say hi and remember why you quit and to announce your milestones. And then, just enjoy your smoke free life!
