Rusty, you want me to do the Ministry of Silly Walks whilst eating spam and reading at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not a woman you know! Can't multitask (according to early research).
Thanks for the wonderful responses everyone. As you have probably gathered by now, I try to think of innovative ways to get the same old message over and to introduce some humour if I can. These posts will be forgotten in a few weeks or months but that is not a problem. You see, if two people do not smoke as a result then I am happy.....and one of those two is me!
Written communication is a funny thing....I've not particularly mentioned it but I am a management trainer. I spend my life teaching that communication is vital.
Research shows that the impact on an audience comes from three areas.
1. The words or content of the message, this has 10% of the total impact.
2. The way we say the words, the inflection, the tone or colour, the pauses etc, this counts for 40% of the impact.
3. The non-verbal or body language message, primarily eye contact but also gestures, hand movements etc, this counts for a massive 50% of the impact.
I feel absolutely passionate about this site and the work that it does. I genuinely feel that it has made the task of stopping smoking possible for me (and that includes a slip some weeks ago). I feel that I get strength from posting as well as maybe making a difference to others if I can.
I only have 10% of the potential impact to work with......I only have the words on the screen, so the humour (or attempts at it) the analogies and the stories are to try to communicate the passion and belief that I have about stopping smoking.
So, I'm not being flippant or taking the matter lightly........just trying to be slightly mad!
