Okay. Tomorrow is my quit day. I have educated myself, read everything I possibly could about this addiction and what to expect when quitting, and I have prepared for this for 3 weeks now! I have a list of alternate activites, a zip-loc bag to carry with me with gum and hard candy in it, my "Good-bye" letter to my cigarettes has been written, printed, and will remain in my purse, the ashtrays have been collected and are awaiting disposal. Tonight I will stop at the store to get a supply of cranberry juice and "healthy" snacks.
I am ready. I have been ready. I have been excited for this day for 3 weeks now. So why am I a nervous wreck??? With each one I smoked today (only 6 since 5:30 am), I have found myself saying, "This will be the last time I have one when I first wake up...the last one with my AM coffee, the last one on my drive to work, the last one on my break with my smoking co-workers...etc." Then I get this panic feeling. I can't describe the feeling. It's panic, but a strange panic.
Lord help me!! I want this soooooo bad! Maybe I will post my Good-bye letter, to make it feel like I am actually handing it to someone.
Tomorrow I will get out of bed, change the routine a little, take a deep breath and face the world as a non-smoker. Wow. It really seems too good to be true.
Thanks for your help!
Kim
