((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) newbkr. :) Looks like ladybug & JJ have the back covered, so I'll just help where I'm needed. We wouldn't give up on you even if you asked us to. The only way to get rid of us is to leave. I'm mighty glad you're still around. :) We're all in this together, newbkr. Let us know how we can help. newbkr I for one have tried probably more than 15 times to quit smoking....some were serious attempts (one week, one month, two months), and most were half-a$$ efforts because i felt like i SHOULD be trying to quit. Anyway, the point of the above babble is that i am behind you 100% in your quit. The only difference between my prior attempts and yours are that yours are documented here, and mine are not. Listen to those who have been quit for a while - their advice is something that needs to be taken to heart. Hell, Heck and Blah weeks really DO exist, and you need to be fully prepared to deal with them. Join the January quit group...("Ash Kickers")...being in the "Holiday Breakers" group has made all the difference to me. And lastly, don't smoke for the next 5 minutes...that's all it took for me. You know the saying "tomorrow never comes"? Well, 5 minutes from now will never come either - it's just less daunting than saying you can never ever smoke again. Behind you all the way, Lucy My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 690 Amount Saved: $229.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 22 Mins: 15 Seconds: 15

I tried to read your responses earlier in the day but crying at one's desk at work is unseemly, so I had to log off and get my composure together. You guys are absolutely the best. Your support means so much to me -- I don't even know how to explain how much I appreciate it. Oh....the trepidation, the excitement. Tomorrow is the day. Okay, gang. I have waffled, gone back and forth on this. I have set so many quit dates in the past three months that I've all but given up on myself. I rarely post these days because I doubt what I have to offer newbies, doubt that the site's elders have the patience to try to prop me up any longer. I've debated the past few days...should I just go this alone? And I've decided not. I need the support I find here, and the wisdom. I have set tomorrow as the quit date that is the forever quit date. The one that sticks. I hope you can find it in you to support me....yet again. I have worked the program, made the plan, but the difference this time is that I think I've turned the corner emotionally and am ready to do whatever it takes. It's hard to post this -- my faith in myself and in life in general has been badly shaken these past few months. But under the anguish is a quiet voice that keeps telling me that things happen the way they are supposed to, that things work out the way they are supposed to, and that sometimes you just have to go on faith. I'm ready to stop shaking my fist in anger and despair and asking WHY. I'm ready to create a vision for the future and start figuring out HOW. Please bear with me. Newbkr-I'll sit next to ladybug and we'll circle the wagons. We are just glad you're here. There is so much love and caring here. That surely beats going it alone. Break it down into baby steps and as Yoda always said milleseconds. We're with you. Godspeed. Dear Newbkr, So very glad to see you back. You were already well into your quit, so you know you can do it. Life just hit you too hard this time. Backing up and regrouping is sometimes the best we can do. Youll be fine, and well all help. I'm ready to create a vision for the future and start figuring out HOW. You, dear friend, are a winner.
