Typical reformed smoker!!

for 18 år siden 0 75 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Had to share this with with all of you. The other nite my husband called me "A typical reformed smoker" Of course he still smokes and he only smokes in one room of the house(his office. I'm always spraying febreeze around his office door cause the smoke seeps out from under the door...well excuuuuussssseeeeee me smokey the bear!!! Apparently he doesn't like me showing discust over the stench!! What am i supposed to say..."Oh honey i love that smell"!!! Even when i did smoke i tried to be considerate of those who didn't smoke and understood that i stunk too and was actually embarrassed of it at times. So you know what i say to all those smokers that have a problem with us wanting to smell clean air...YES I AM A TYPICAL REFORMED SMOKER AND I'M DAMN PROUD OF MYSELF TOO!!!!So they can stick that in their pipes & smoke it!! Can i get an AMEN anyone?? OK.........hate to be the party pooper here, but........don't you remember how you HATED preachy-type former or non-smokers nagging, griping, complaining, criticizing you about your smell? Or the faces of disgust as you walked past? Didn't it make you dig in your heels and SWEAR you were gonna keep smoking??????? It did for me. And I married a former smoker. We dated for two years and have been married for 4 now. I can count on one hand the number of times he commented or criticized me on how I smelled. This decision to quit was MINE and MINE ALONE. I have been "accused" once already of being a militant non-smoker. And this was BY a non-smoker! I don't want to be like that. We all know how horrible this addiction is, and how personal a decision it is to quit. We cannot quit for someone else, or because of someone else......... just my two cents worth. here's a recent photo of me on my bandwagon! LMAO. AMEN BJ!! You tell it girl!!! I posted a stinky smoke story myself the other day. I wish I would have had some Febreeze then. Do you think hubby may join you soon? Hey BJ, I hear ya on the not pushin' thing. The quickest way to NOT get my husband to do something is to keep after him. (notice I didn't say nag... that's something I never do.).... " grinning largely".... lol. You never know though he may come around on his own, I hope so. Look at Duffis and his wife Pete. Great inspiration! I notice ChickenStix doesn't nag at her hubby either, she gripes. lol. You ladies MUST be a great inspiration for them though. They will come around eventually. What I can't understand is how he still smokes in the house!? Smoke travels...no matter how much Febreeze you spray, it still stinks up the place. You have every right to complain about it...unless of course it's "HIS" house and you're just borrowing space in it. Complain away...maybe someday, the respect fairy will bump into him. N.O.P.E. I'm amazed all of you are doing so well in your quits with smoking spouses. My dad lives with me and smokes - Outside. I try to stay away from him because he stinks. But he is my dad not my spouse. I don't think I would be too good at that. Hats off to you ladies. You are better than me. N2k, Ahhhh... feel the love... :eg: I really didn't want to post in this thread for fear of ticking some of you off.. ;p It's really simple.. smokers stink. We all did. Smoking in a dwelling where ex or non smokers also live is one of the most selfish, ignorant acts a smoker can do. Those who tolerate it are doing nothing more than silently encouraging the smoker. If you live with someone who absolutely refuses to smoke outside then welcome to your own personal hell on earth. Have a nice day. ;) Be Strong. Be Smart. Cigarettes Not Smoked

BJ, Yes, I am married. My wife quit the same time I did. There were no other options. And if you think I'm unique in that regard, my father-in-law remarried to someone who smoked when he met her. His only requirement for them to wed? Be smoke free. They have been married about 12 years now. And don't confuse an "ultimatum" with marital expectatations. Of course, this site is made up of about 95% women, so it's easy to see how I get shot down on this one. Maybe you can't tell your husband what to do, but this is 2006, not 1946 and every smoker on the face of this earth knows smoking is harmful. Those who desire to continue to endanger their loved ones are out in left field somewhere. Ok, so you don't feel you are encouraging him to smoke. Fair enough. Yes, addicts must decide on their own to kick their addictions. But why condone it by allowing it in your house? I will never understand that. Polly, while you're praying that your spouses make the same choice as you have, show him the door when he lights up. Maybe then he'll "see the light". ;p All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke So many people here write comments defending their spouses smoking indoors. You quitters are the "good men".... why do nothing? Have you so little say in the running of the house? Be Strong. Be Smart.
