Well mom is at home, seems to be doing ok. She has lost 17 pounds, dont know if that is good or bad. She had a cat scan today, to find out if she has scare tissue in her lungs or if it is something else.

hi cuddles,i wish i could give you a big hug!
i do home care for the elderly and i have a few people with emph
as they are elderly they seem to think that its really not worth going through all it takes to quit when they have to deal with all the other wrong things .i know for a fact that some are told not to bother giving up as its to late![how sad it that?]
i had to watch my mum die from smoke/drink and the only thing i would beg you to do is to tell your mum you love her no matter what she chooses to do,let her know your there for her.
love ya loads jan xxxxx
Cuddles...your Mom won't quit because at her age, she's probably convinced that quitting won't help anything so why bother?! You on the other hand know what qutting will do for you and watching your Mom go through what she's going through should be enough for you to give it up for good. She will do what she wants and you can't change that. Your quit is yours...hers (or lack thereof) is hers. If she chooses to continue smoking, you have to just stay strong in your commitment...no, your promise to yourself and stay quit.
Be there for her as a strong presence...not one that will fall back on your promise to yourself just because she herself isn't strong enough to quit. Show her that you are determined to not end up like her by staying quit. I'm SO proud that you keep coming back after a slip and know that you will succeed! We're all here with you as you go through this ordeal with your Mom.

Cuddles,
Your mom is an addict like the rest of us with addict behaviour. All you can do is love her and cherrish the time you have together. Be thankful for each and every day you have on your meter. They are hard earned. Don't let go.

Cuddles count your blessing sweetie. You don't want to wind up with Emphysema. I know you won't smoke. You have been through too much to start all over again. I just know that this time you are hanging on with all your might.
You mother may not be able to quit but know that she is proud of you for being quit and is glad that you will not experience what she is going through. She may not relay that to you but I'm sure it is true.
Hang onto your quit. The weekends are always the worse. It's Sunday and it will be over soon. You are doing it and you are succeeding. Have a great day.

Cuddles,
I know you are going through a difficult period right now. Please remember to take time out for yourself. Time to reflect and catch your breath. Your determination has increased dramatically over the last week. Hold on to it.
I believe you have found that inner strength you were looking for. We are here for you.
