Today marks 10 weeks for me in this quit. 70 full days without a single puff of a cigarette.
I've had some good days, I have some bad days, but they've all been smoke free days.
I am 30 days away from the beach. I already have all my beach stuff ready to go because there is simply no way I wont get there. There is nothing, I mean nothing on God's green Earth that could make me light up a cigarette and smoke it. I know in my bones I just will not do it no matter what this life throws at me.
It's getting a lot easier now, so I have my guard up higher than ever. The junkie thoughts do happen but I beat them very quickly now. I wont allow myself to rationalize either. Just one.... No, that doesn't work. For me, 1 puff equals two packs a day.
I have finally realized I am a recovering nicoholic. I will always be addicted to nicotine. Always. I will always be able to fall back to being a smoker in a day. I wont allow it to happen to me.
Thanks to SSC and all who have inspired me, supported me and offered their encouragement. I have learned so much here posting and lurking.
This quit is SOLID.
If you're just starting out, realize you can do it. You are stronger than the addiction, you are stronger than you think.
Cigarettes kill you. Quitting does not kill you. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Quitting has made me stronger. I am better than I was before. I have a new sense of who I am and how much control I have over my destiny. I did not expect that when I quit.
Thanks for letting me ramble. it's been a while since I posted and I wanted to touch base. I think I will always be a member here. I imagine myself in 5 years still looking at the boards and posting every now and then.
Hope you don't mind if I habg around.....
