I quit cold turkey. I had so many really weird reactions to nrt's in previous quits and I had taken wellbutrin as an anti depressant and had reponded with really ughy and ugly side effects. So looking to take my life in my own two hands I quit using a wing (my guardian angels wings), a prayer (mostly provided by others) and the SSC (thanks for all the support and encouragement). Hope you get the info you are looking for Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 149 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,992 Amount Saved: $1117.5 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 9 Mins: 9 Seconds: 39

a) 1 b) - have tried all of the magic potions - patches, inhalers, zyban, fairy dust, etc. Just didn't work for me. It just seemed like a different way of ingesting what I was trying to not ingest. Every substantial but failed prior quit (i.e. 1 year, 3 months) has been cold. I think the difference with this quit was my mental approach. I finally saw the light and decided to do something about it. I deserve it. Whatever works, works, eh. keep fightin' the good fight - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 209 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,290 Amount Saved: $1045 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 2 Mins: 41 Seconds: 30

Ed, FYI I know someone who tried the patch, Gum, the patch & gum, the patch & Gum + cigarettes, 2 x Hypno & 2 x Cold turkey's all in the space of 2 years, this does not include previous failed attempts over the 15 years of addiction. :8o: I guess it goes to show, no matter what you're cure.. you need some serious Amo to tackle this thing head on ! Knowledge & the right frame of mind goes a long way to kicking this thing up the butt. Mr Ed, Goble, Goble, Goble ! Cold Yurkey & Allen Carr, the moment of revelation is a wonderfull thing !. I tried NRT(s) before & failed miserably, fortunately i 'saw the light' so to speak. I feel happy, comfortable & most important, 'at piece' with myself. Hi Mr. Ed - I like your post and find it informative, I just want to reassure all NEWBIES that as long as something is working for you, stick with it... it does not really matter what you used. I put the words up there because: As much as I know most of you and love you all to pieces for being such a great group and offering me so much support and helping through the bad times and helping me celebrate the good times, as I was reading this post..I started to feel a little bit like I was less than everyone else who went cold turkey. (I know, I know..these are my own personal thoughts..and they won't get me down) I found it interesting to feel like that. For that reason I will post my history on quitting.. 2 weeks before I quit, my doctor gave me Wellbutrin. It was friggin horrible for 2 reasons...1 my cigarettes for the last two weeks were NOT ENJOYABLE at all (anyone who has taken Wellbutrin know this)...also I could not sleep, woke up constantly with nightmares etc etc..but I quit like I had decided and many times over the next 2 weeks I just about caved and said 'I can't live with the side effects of wellbutrin"...finally..all side affects disappeared (no dry mouth, sleeping well, no heart palipitations etc etc.). I was taking 2 per day...after about 3 months I think, I dropped down to one a day...around 10 months I decided to stagger them and miss a few days here and a few days there...well one day I felt pretty down and I thought oh my gosh...I need the wellbutrin..so here I am back to 1 a day. I spoke to my doctor and she said 1 a day will not hurt me at all and when I am ready she will lower the dose to I 50mg..and I can do it that wya if I want...I don't think that the 'down' day was a result of 'lack of wellbutrin', but if freaked me out enough to go back on it right away...we will see where this takes me. For some reason, in the back of my mind, I feel like a fraud for using wellbutrin to quit. Stupid. This feeling will pass, I know.. Whatever it takes to quit and whatever journey we are on, the most important one is to stay quit. Cheers to everyone.... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/8/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 379 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,587 Amount Saved: $2653 Life Gained: Days:

Mr. Ed..Wow ...no offense. I was not saying that the CT people thought they were superior. I was merely saying how I felt. I too think that anyone who did it cold turkey is amazing.
