LOL. Thank you, Mama. (that phrase sounds so approriate)
The only reason it scares me when people say you don't have craves after two or three weeks is that I have quit for that long before and I still did, so you feel that there maybe something wrong with you and you might not be physically able to quit.
I've seen these reactions before, and that's what I'm trying to prevent. Quitting is confusing and scary enough without throwing different interpretations of terms into the mix. Thanks for the whack upside the head, Mama. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 394 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,894 Amount Saved: $1497.2 Life Gained: Days: 73 Hrs: 14 Mins: 1 Seconds: 36

I thought I was going to have a real bad day when JR peed on my foot this morning but the rest of the day has just been great. Pete and I went and bought a new HDTV and they will deliver it tomorrow. We are really pleased as this was one of our many rewards for just not smoking. In spite of the semantics and interpretations of the English language going on here in this thread there is a lot of good imput from various members. After reading all the way through this thread I had to pick my self up off the floor from laughing my a** off. Between Bubba and et all, just stand back and take another look at it, I'm sure you will find more humor than anger. Bottom line folks is not what you call it that makes you want to smoke it is the fact that you just don't smoke that really matters. We all take different roads to get to the same place so who really gives a crap. Either you quit smoking or you don't. Why make this a super human ordeal when it is just a simple act of quitting. Success or failure is just up to you and no one else...............so there. Great post Shevie. Here's to ANOTHER 26 year quit. For new members: Don't believe that you're totally free after a few weeks. Shevie's correct that it takes a long time to truly win over the addition. On the other hand, in my case the craves quickly came infrequently and were much milder than in the beginning of my quit. The main thing to remember is N.O.P.E. It you don't smoke, you WIN! Not cravin', never cavin'.(for real) Hummy My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/5/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 412 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,495 Amount Saved: $2678 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 11 Mins: 28 Seconds: 54

Hey Shevie, A very good thread You Posted here, and it sure makes sense, I came along in March of 2003, And what has carried me to where I'm at today was my Positive Attitude after I had that last cigerette, Friends, You can't let Your guard down today, for there is temptation all around You, But only time will make that positive attitude stronger, Yes, I see smoking around me daily, reguardless of whether I stay home, or go down town, You might say I've placed myself in prison behind bars, and when let out, have told myself not to go to certain places, You know like Father's Day, I went into town to my Son's house for a cookout, will when I arrived, 3 or 4 of His male friends who he worked with was siting in the back yard, along with there wives, and do You know, Everyone of them smoked, My Son don't,, but it was quite strange to me to be there amoungst all those smokers, But then it comes back to Your mind set, Your Die-Hard Mind -Set, I don't know whether You agree with my method or not, But You do what works for You, We are not all mentally and physicial the same, so why would We All think alike, I believe it was Bubba Who said one time a couple years back, once a smoke addict, always a smoke addict, Well I always had trouble swallowing that theory, even though 98 out of a 100 agreed with Him, You see, I took an oath on day 1 of my quit, right here on this website, that a cigerette would never touch my lips again, Well the longer my quit, the stronger I get, O'Yeow, Thanks for letting me Vent Shevie, Great Post, Smokeless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 35,991 Amount Saved: $5131.72 Life Gained: Days: 283 Hrs: 13 Mins: 39 Seconds: 34

Yeah, fear! Have to agree with you there lady, there certainly seems to be a lot of fear about the boards at present and that's sad. It may be hard but it isn't rocket science. Penitent d764

Rob47, if you are a firm believer in knowing as much about something as you can before getting into it and that there is a potential for killer craves somewhere in your quit, please know that there is also the potential for no craves at all, somewhere in your quit. I believe that it is important to get the balance right for the benefit of all the new quitters coming here. It could go either way; I was lucky, I did not experience 100 day craves and I do not crave today. I know that craves can lead to the much maligned slip but that just comes down to the personal strength of the individual concerned when dealing with craves. Some can handle them, some can't. Good Luck Penitent d764
