The slippery slope!!!!!!

Cheermom and others, keeping a record of quit stats was really important in the early days of my quit. And ... it still is. To anybody here who thinks it's no big deal.. to me it's a constant reminder of what I would be giving up if I were to end my quit. To all you new quitters out there - lots of negative posts have been going out today, but just like to say there are a lot of us here months into our quits who have no intention of smoking and do not believe that we will ever smoke again take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 147 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,430 Amount Saved: 1102.5 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 14 Mins: 53 Seconds: 24

I hear ya! This is supposed to be a "non-smoking" area and I get the impression it's not exactly that!!!!! Y'know, I may not be the most positive "poster", but even so, I can at least see the logic of things through my struggle and all this crap about social smoking and then the "meter ambiguity" all seem pretty distressing to me and anathema to the "support" one should be getting. What is going on? If you smoke, you're not quit......right? Or have I missed something? My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 142 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,680 Amount Saved: $1278 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 7 Mins: 56 Seconds: 46

cheermom - I agree with you... I guess each of us believes what we believe and all don't agree... Hang in there and try to get back on center, dear one... Being grounded in our Quits is the best gift we can give ourselves... Come here and vent, cheermom -anytime. Phillip- I agree w/you as well... Meters say: Smoke-Free Days: Not alot of confusion there, I don't think... Do we need to define what that means? I don't think so, it's really quite simple. I understand your frustration - just vent away and get it all out - we're right here with ya:) Blessings! WOW I had no idea. I think that I live on a slippery slope. I know for me there is no such thing as one puff. My past experience of quitting was just that one puff would leed to a pack and a pack would leed to the next. No smoking for me. Thanks skidoo for sharing it takes a great deal of courage to adjust your meter and come here and tell the truth. All that matters for me is to not smoke. Some days its hard and some days its a breeze. I just will not smoke. If I am in trouble I will come here to post my woes and I will wait to see what support I get. I am going to add one more thing. This is really about choice. and for me really about life and death. I know that if I smoke I will kill myself it might not be tomorrow or the next day but I will die as a result of the poor choice that I make by smoking. So today I choose not to smoke. Today I choose my health, my body my life. I value life and as I go on in this smoke free journey, in my choice to not smoke, I value my life more and more and more. Thanks Phillip My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 143 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,873 Amount Saved: $1072.5 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 9 Mins: 58 Seconds: 5

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Don't like the sounds of all the talk about social smoking. I smoked a bunch of cigarettes and should I reset my meter???? AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Smoking is smoking you are either smoking or not smoking. I know for me I can not smoke, if I did I would be awash in the addiction, the habit all of it again. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! No nicotine of any kind for me. I know that I have to stay away from any kind of kindness to the part of me that wants to smoke. I have to be ultra firm and there is no smoking for me, there is no smoking in my house, my car! I will walk across the street to not be near the smell or the wiff of smoke. Seeing others tempts me and I get angry with myself at the thought of breaking my word to myself. I know I simply can not go near the very glimps of smoking it is just not okay for me. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I am glad for all the truth there is around here and I personally don't like how I feel when I am tempted, when I see substantial quits broken in one puff. This makes me very sad because I can identify with this, I have been there and done that and I know I can not fall into the trap of the addict thinking only one puff ... yadda yadda yadda. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! It's a slippery slope and thanks I will just have to stay away from any of that thought. I guess I am too fragile but I just have to absolutely stay away from even the briefest thought that smoking might be okay for me it ain't. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Enough Sorry for the rant. For me I know I just don't smoke. I swim, I walk, I breath fresh air and I don't smoke. I will not be near anyone who does and I know I need to protect and take care of the part of me that has quit. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Cheermom, Don't let others upset you. Don't smoke and then your meter will not be in question. You are doing a fine job in your quit and you have every right to be proud of each of those days that on your meter. Keep doing what you have been doing for the past 33 days because you are doing it right. Riverdale Man... I soooooo agree with you. I know I cannot smoke. If I take one puff, I believe I will smoke until the day I die. I could not go through those first couple of months of quitting again. I refuse to forget where I come from. It is way too far to go back for me. Life is full of choices.
