Chickstarr, Many members have struggled with quitting the NRT. Some have found it helpful to either substitute the NRT for something else every other craving or breaking their NRT gum in half. Hope this helps. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Alison, I think you would be okay to stop. You can always go back right? Ease your way into changes and if you're not sure, give your physician a call. If you stopped smoking, everything else should be pretty easy, right? You will not be an old growler (funny) - you will be healthier and nicotine free..... Rock on ~ CobenFan

Alison Just like Shevie says You can do this and you can survuve! Just like you say: Life. Be in it. Consuming the nicotine or the little pills or whatever they are is taking energy away from your life, spending time in the park with your child and being in nature and fixing a lovely meal is being in your life. As you no doubt know. Just do it. You have done one and no doubt done other life changing, habit shifting, behaviour balancing, transformations in your life. I apreciate you for the courage it took to post this post. Keep stepping through and you will get to the other side. Someone said recently that once you quit smoking, you can never really enjoy it again. I believe that's true. Some people relapse but never really enjoy it like they did before they spent time as a nonsmoker and enjoy the freedom. My point is it is unlikely you will start smoking again after all this time without cigs. Try it....you will love it, I promise :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 411 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,236 Amount Saved: $2055 Life Gained: Days: 54 Hrs: 7 Mins: 27 Seconds: 29

Hi, Chickstarr. Congratulations on 114 smoke-free days. :) I have to agree with everyone here. It's time to cut the cord, and I think you already know that or you wouldn't have posted. You won't waver, you've got too much smoke-free time in and know too much about the whole thing. The fear you are feeling is fear of the unknown being sparked by the trivial remaining bit of addiction the NRT is keeping alive. Just do it, Alison. :) You'll survive. Trust me, I know these things. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 472 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,454 Amount Saved: $1793.6 Life Gained: Days: 88 Hrs: 3 Mins: 9 Seconds: 31
