Thank you guys, I agree that the alcohol can pose a big problem when it comes to cravings. I've been through the cycle of smoking, quitting, relapsing soooooo many flipping times; it is the time for NO MORE EXCUSES. I went and bought some more 2mg nicotine lozenges. When I woke up yesterday morning without them, I got real panicky. It was not a good feeling. I would rather have a few lozenges a day than smoke. I'm so torn because I want nicotine out of my system so I can start to feel normal without it. I don't think that I should try and give up the lozenges before I go to san fran on July 3rd. I am proud of myself for last night. I went out with some friends, (all of them smoked except one). We had dinner; I had two drinks, and we listened to some live music. I didn't smoke; but I sure as hell chewed the heck out of 3 bar straws! In other quits, I would have given in to the cravings and rationalized having a smoke. So, that is progress for me. I will get off the lozenges at the right time for me. I need to trust in that. Hi breaking free, I am still smoke free. Today is my day off. They always seem to be harder. I drank my coffee and then popped a nic lozenge. I don't know if they help, or hurt. But, I am not smoking. The psychological hold of smoking is certainly much stronger than the physical for me. I am doing some rehab on my home, so I will be stripping wallpaper off the bathroom wall today, maybe take a break and go for a swim this afternoon. Thank you for caring enough to ask. You are 2 weeks or so ahead of me in your quit...that meter is looking good. Do you use any NRT? I'm alright guys. Still smoke free. I am trying to get off of the nico lozenges. I had my last two today and didn't buy more. My biggest "fear" is this. I am okay when I am at work and I just come home, make dinner, check e mail, post here, read, watch tv, etc. But, when i have to go out and socialize with smokers or attend some event where smokers are present, I have this huge doubt that I will smoke (like I did the concert night). I know that it is a decision; but sometimes this addiction is bigger than me. I just feel like staying isolated from it all, but it is impossible. I guess I don't trust myself in my quit yet. I am staying in as much as I can. My next big challange will be a trip to san fran over July 3rd with a person who smokes. thanks for you exhortation BFS. I did try to prepare myself all day by mentally saying "you aren't going to smoke" etc. But, you are right. I did not come to the site and ask for advice. I have another concert coming up in mid July. I will be ready. NOPE. Hi Janet, thanks for being so understanding. I feel a little defeated today, but I have not had one puff;nor do I want to. I have stayed away from bar/restaurants since I quit, so this was my first excursion out being around a smoker. I didn't pass the test. I got that thought, "one would be so nice. It's a special occasion; going to a concert; going out for drinks afterwards, You won't start smoking again" I considered the thought instead of fighting back and got myself in trouble. My cravings didn't seem any worse today than they usually are, thank godness. But, it scares me that I allowed myself to smoke. No more!!! I need to nip it now. thanks again My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 564 Amount Saved: $75 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 17 Mins: 37 Seconds: 43

I am so disappointed in myself. I knew that I was going to a concert with a smoking friend last night. I prepped myself alll day. I saw myself handling the cravings and not smoking. I made it through some very stressful situations this week without smoking. I was starting to feel very strong, like I could actually beat this addiction...then BAM; what the heck happened to my resolve???? I smoked one before the concert and a couple with drinks afterwards. But, I am smoke free today. I had 2 nic lozenges. I do not want to go back to the smoking lifestyle. I certainly have to be aware of the power of the nicodevil. Sometimes it is so hard to just not light that cig. But, I know that I can't if I want to be free of this addiction. My quit started on march 1st. I slipped on march 6th. I started again the next day, march 7th and I'm on the beach. Get right back at it, don't beat yourself up. You're human - just don't let it happen again...... You should have learned something right? ex, I see this as a slip. Getting back in there is the right thing to do. Learn from this and stay away from situations that will tempt you. Keep using those coping mechanisms and know you can do this! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
