A tribute to our dear Lady!

Oh Pam! You've gone and made me cry! Tears of joy. I said all of that huh? We have come so far since last summer, you and I. Remember when it was just me and you on the SSC IM thingy every Friday and Saturday night? While it seemed everyone else had lives and all we could do was laugh and cry about how much we wanted to smoke? Remember all the times we would be chatting and then all of a sudden we would notice some newbie posting about needing help. One of us would say Quick... such and such needs help, look in such and such forum and we would both rush off to reply? I remember. I also remember all the times that no one was around, I could count on you being there and suffering with me. I remember you struggling to maintain your quit and how awful you felt when you reset your meter. I just want you to know that took a lot of courage. I know how much this hurt you but I also know that you are a stronger, more courageous person because of it. This message is from me to you, Pam. There were many nights that if you hadn't been there, I wouldn't be here now. I am glad you were there. Thank you for your kindness, your friendship, and all the love and care that has gone into this post of yours for me. I am touched beyond words. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. On the eve of her 1 year anniversary, I have put together a collection of just a few of her spectacular posts (aren't you glad I didn't paste together ALL 4500 posts?!?!?! :p ). There's a lot of wisdom here, folks. Pay attention... you might learn something from this wonderful Lady. Her introduction post:
Hi Gang - I'm Lady. I quit for all the reasons everyone else does. Health, Tired of smoking, tired of not being able to breath etc.etc.etc.... I have smoked for over 20 years. Kind of quit once before but now I realize I really didn't because every couple of days I would sneak just one . I was really proud of myself too. I have a new attitude and a new focus. "Everyday is one day closer to never feeling like this again".
Through the tough times, she has always managed to stay positive. Her positive attitude is what has helped her keep going.
Sometimes life just isnt fair (there is a new revolution huh). Im trying to hold on to my positive attitude and I keep repeating those inspirational sayings over and over in my head.

I refuse to allow this horrible, manipulating addiction to take my freedom from me. I also constantly remind myself that I am an addict. I must always be on guard of junkie thinking and anytime it seems to be getting to me, the first thing I need to do is come here and talk to you guys first. Life is full of challenges and life is full of choices. I choose life not death. Smoking kills. Period.

OK folks, It's not a good day today. I really don't want to smoke, it's just that smoking has always been my escape when things get to be too much. It's like my time out from the world. I'm doing the deep breathing thing. In out, In out, ok. In deeper/out. Thanks for letting me rant. My keyboard is screaming out in pain so I better go.
And then, a remarkable change came about. Our Lady started to see the light at the end of the tunnel...
The experience of quitting has been unlike anything Ive been through in my life. I have grown leaps and bounds from where I was just about four short months ago. The freedom that comes with quitting is a breathe of fresh air in more ways
