I have to answer that question with another question.
How do you NOT help?
The first chance I stumbled upon the SSC I was 5 hours into my quit. The first thing I did was go though the program at the left. Then I viewed the support group. The first post I read was by wendywoo, quitter of Nov/04, and Hall of Fame Nov 2005. The post is called "A Quitters Tale" and to this day remains my all time favorite post, being my first one ever. From that post I knew I had the positive attitude to quit. I looked at her meter. WOW. I was inspired. I knew there were folks in here I could plenty aspire to and count on for a healthy fun support system that would help me in my oh-so-icky-days to come following my quit date.
I have done searches on you older quitters to locate what you had written about. I read them every time someone 'bumps' one up. I LOVE THOSE BUMPS!! I wish more of you would post new stuff for the present moment. I suspect though, being older in your quits, that you are busy with your lives now and are out and enjoying and LIVING now, which is to be expected and also what we are all aspiring to do here. To LIVE. Well I don't blame any of you for going on with your lives and not posting in here much anymore, but I would never have thought it for the reason that you felt you were not making a difference. You are still loved in here, and are very much alive in here, and so is what you have posted in here with those good ol' bumps coming through.
I also have the impression, and I could be wrong, that you older quitters (6-12 club, VIP Club, 500 club, etc) are hanging out in your own clubs because you can probably better relate to each other being the same amount of quit time. I feel that way myself sometimes, and though I am currently on the ship I have not posted on the beach yet, though I do know and understand that these clubs are NOT exclusive and we are free to post on any of them at any time. It is kind of like my goal though, to get to the 100 days THEN I can feel free to post on the Beach thread. When I get there, not before. But that is just ME! So, with that said, I feel that perhaps the older quitters may have some of that same philosphy. Again, I could be wrong!
I think if you want to post then do so. If you want to
