Tina... you don't need luck! You've got all your tools in place, you've done your research and you are ready. Congratulations. Be the excited kid. You are getting ready to begin the first day of the rest of your smoke free life! How cool is that?! Remember to take really deep breaths, drink plenty of water and take one step at a time. N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever. That is how we all quit! You CAN do this. Hi Tina, The feelings your feeling right now are perfectly normal...
"oh my God what have I gotten myself into"
That what have I gotten myself into kinda feeling starting out is definately scary, so stick around here, read, read, read and post, post, post...yell and scream if you have to...we have all been through it and will understand 100%. I like you and others here started out posting and preparing ourselves before our big "Quit" day, but know that it does pay off....this freedom from the ball n chain of smoking is the greatest.... Here's a post that was sent to me the day before my quit.... Tomorrow Remember, Second by Second, Minute by Minute, Hour by Hour, until the hours become days, then the days become weeks, weeks will become months and months will become years. Here's the deal: Self talk and distraction, also real life. Self talk, I think can make it through the next few minutes. By the time those are over with, our minds are onto another subject. Then we look again at the clock and OMG,,,,,, it's been 20 minutes, instead of the original 5 we were trying to make it through. Then we have to do some chore, Feed the dog, play with the dog, play with the children, start dinner....something....(this would be so much better with a cig....that is satan talking...remember that and don't let him get the better of you as he is going to try his best to)Then we are thinking OMG... . After you kick the Nicodemon, you feel relief, your are back to minutes....Soon those minutes do add up to hours, the hours do add up to days...and with each passing day it does get easier.... I have had this on my fridge since day one...so it's always there for me..... :) We are here for you....I'm really excited for you !!!! tina and stormy, Take naps today, if you can. Talk a long hot bath tonight with aromatherapy. Weather permitting, talk a nice leisurely walk after dinner. Change your routine. Our life routine was based on when we smoked. Now, you can do whatever you want and ignore the nicodevil. Stay strong and think positively. Rejoice that you are getting this horrible addiciton out of your life. Talk to yourself when the cravings come, and remember NOPE. You all can do it. That's great, Tina. :) :) :) "What have I gotten myself into?" Fear of the unknown. Yep, we've all felt it to some degree or another. So is the excited part. Tomorrow when you wake up, break your routine just like you've planned. And don't hesitate to hop on the SSC or the IM and get help/distraction/support. No need to wait til the last minute. Just do it. OK? Again, I wish you strength Tina. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 419 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,399 Amount Saved: $1592.2 Life Gained: Days: 78 Hrs: 7 Mins: 4 Seconds: 58

Hi, Tina. :) Glad to see you're doing okay. Three miles is a long walk, especially during an Alabama summer day! :gasp: I remember my first day. I was at work and every few seconds I would almost start to go outside for a smoke. By almost I mean my muscles would tense to start moving me toward the door and I'd catch it in time before I actually moved more than a twitch. It was like walking a large, ill-trained, very energetic dog on a short leash, constantly having to pull him back with you, then him jerking away again. Over and over, all day long. By the time I got home I was beat! Have a good nap. Catch you later. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 420 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,411 Amount Saved: $1596 Life Gained: Days: 78 Hrs: 9 Mins: 45 Seconds: 10

Hi Tina, So glad to hear youre doing okay! Good plan naps are wonderful things. Youre very well prepared, know what comes next, and have great determination. Youll be fine. Stormy, Welcome to the SSC. Maybe you and Tina can be quit buddies. It really helps to have someone going through exactly what youre going through. Thinking about you both. Not cravin', never cavin'. Hurray! Today is the first day of your smoke free life! -Use all your knowledge and tools -Believe in yourself you CAN do this -Come to the SSC WHENEVER you feel the need someone is almost always here to help -Find something to do when you feel you HAVE to have a cigarette and you cant get to a computer. I kept several posts with me at all times to read when needed. I also wrote down all my reasons for quitting and had my childrens photos on the sheet, too. -Know that whatever goes wrong will not get any better just because you smoke. -No one can make you smoke another cigarette but you. -Remember: Youve already made the decision. Now all you have to do is do whatever it takes to stick to it. Just look at all the folks pulling for you! :) Not cravin', never cavin'.
