I hope it is not too late to play.............
My initial WHY to quit, was because my hubby wanted to quit. The only way for him to quit was if I did too. He had this horrible cough for years (it is really BAD....) and will not go to the doctor. I know it is something serious, so I decided to quit with him. That was my initial WHY. I'll be honest though, I didn't think he would last. Finally at 20 days, he smoked. But I didn't. I just kept on going.
My WHY now is different. I too have asthma. I was on 2 different inhalers daily, and went in once a week for a breathing treatment at the docs. I still smoked through all of this.......... But now, I am off all inhalers and pretty clear of any asthma for over 4 months now. So my WHY now is my health.
My motivation to stay quit is my 2 girls. In case you didn't know....... They are my inspritation in my journey. They have to watch their Dad smoke, and cough, and stink everyday. I know what will eventually happen.......... So at least they have me as a role model to not smoke. I am hoping that since they are fairly young still, as time goes on, maybe they won't even remember that I smoked.
Anyhow, thank you for this post. I really enjoy reading other peoples responses.
Take care!
