Hi Had enough, You sure had enough huh? Good thinking that it is all a mindgame. Knowing that is the best beginning ever. It's true, it's all in the mind. I love people with a positive additude. Hi had enough it will get better, you must ignore pessimist people, they don't realize what you are going through, you must reaffirm your desire to stay quit and shout it out for all to hear N.O.P.E. you can do this, one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 41 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 628 Amount Saved: $164 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 12 Mins: 28 Seconds: 23

Hi had enough ,things do get better, I take the patch off right before bedtime and stick it back on first thing in the morning, the patch only removes the edges the rest is a mind game. You can do this a day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 614 Amount Saved: $160 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 9 Mins: 32 Seconds: 8

Hi had enough, every one has given you great advise the most important thing is to remenber you are doing this for you. you deserve this forget every thing and every one who might interfere with your quit. It truely does get easier the longer you go with out. Stay strong and post often that also helps. had enough: My husband takes the patch off at night also. He can't cope with the dreams. I agree that I have had some bizarre dreams, but they don't wake me and give me something unusual to talk about the next day :8o: Stay close and stand strong---you are doing sooooooooooo well :)

Had enough, A few ideas... * Ignore them. * Stand tall, proud and calmly tell them: I'm a non-smoker! There's nothing wrong with reaffirming your quit to those who would test your commitment. * Look at them puzzled and say, "I don't smoke?" Do not let these types of comments discourage you. You are doing a fantastic job and we are so proud of you! Even if they doubt you're committment we can clearly see your determination will see you through! Can other members share their experiences with had enough? Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

had enough, Congratulations on your decision to quit and welcome to the SSC. You are doing fine. You realize you are an addict and since you have broken one addiction (drinking) you know you have it in you to deal with this one. Smoking and quitting smoking are entirely a mind game. The nicotine messes with us in so many ways it isn't even funny. Just keep focused on your quit and the knowledge that this crappy feeling isn't going to last forever. Time is the great healer. You have probably smoked for years and years. Quitting isn't going to happen in a matter of days. It's a process we all must go through. You are already doing many good things. The ice water really helped me. I also chewed on cut-off straws. Like you, I used the patch. However, after the first couple of nights, I decided not to sleep with it anymore since it messed up my sleeping so much. I took it off right before turning in and put a new one on right after I showered. My wife, who quit with me, also did the same. Check out my stats.. it's very doable! Read all you can. There are many great threads/posts here. Dig deep into some of the forums and perhaps search for articles. You can also search out the net for info. Remember, keep a clear head. Maintain your focus. Do not be distracted by other events occuring in your life. Life will go on, whether you smoke or not. So don't smoke! Nothing will change other than you smoked. Here is a quote I like to share with all new quitters... "May we never let the things we can't have, or don't have, or shouldn't have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have." Richard L. Evans Best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart. You are doing fabulously. Great advice you got about taking the patch off at night. I used the patch and could NOT sleep with it. Had psychotic dreams. Even with getting some sleep, all my emotional equilibrium left. I sobbed and whined and slept and b****ed my way through week one. Was scary when I felt like I was losing my mind. This site saved my sanity and my quit and my life. Except for sore butt syndrome, it was wonderful to turn here every time the whole process seemed hopeless. Thankfully, it does not last. And when you are on the other side, you will wonder what took you so long. You have already kicked one addiction, so you well know how delicioud the freedom is. Hang in there - you are a brave warrior and nicodemon is left shaking and quaking in his boots!
