When I began this journey, I didn't think I could quit. I counted every single hour. Kept telling myself "I have made it XX hours.. no way I'm starting over now." I found this site and all the support that was here. I saw other people were successfully quitting. A lot of them. I was impressed.
Those hours started turning into days. Then I made it 4 days which had been my previous record. Hell week was over. I hoped I would never go through that again. Heck week wasn't much better and Blah week really wasn't much of a relief either. All of a sudden, I was at one month. One whole month of not smoking. WOW! Amazing.
Everyone has heard me say take one step at a time. Make it through five minutes at a time. Use each situation to build on. Each time you do not smoke, your confidence begins to grow. Eventually, I had invested so much of myself into my quit that I didnt want to give up what I had worked so hard for.
This is a quit journey. Quit missing the smoker in you. The smoker is dead when you quit. You now have an opportunity to create a new life for yourself - A smoke free life. Morn the loss of the smoker and begin to move forward. Refuse to give in to the addiction no matter what happens.
You can kick, you can scream, go ahead and cry, break dishes, stay in bed all day, go shopping, do whatever it takes JUST DONT smoke! Your confidence will grow and you will be amazed at the changes that begin to occur as you become the confident quitter.
Reach deep inside and grab every bit of strength you can get your hands on. Quitting is doable and it is worth every single moment of agony you endure in the beginning. If you are struggling, hang in there your confidence will grow and a life of freedom from the enslavement of smoking awaits you.
