to quit or not to quit

QM had a good point---we forget how hard the quitting is with each slip or relapse. Kind of like me having five kids---I forgot how horrid labor was after awhile... I finally figured it out... :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,421 Amount Saved: $384 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 23 Mins: 32 Seconds: 30

Robbinsforum, Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit! Be sure to take advantage of our behavior change program located on the left side of your screen under program tools. It will help you put together a quit plan that is right for you. You'll need an attack plan for cravings, a list of distractions and a reward system for staying smoke free. Also be sure to start a thread in the "Introduce Yourself" forum so that we may give you a proper welcome. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

I want to thank you all for your input. John W, if you are checking in thank you!! I liked what you had to say and you are right. I like striaght forward talk. It is not easy to hear sometimes, but needed. I had the same additude as you did almost 30 years ago with my drinking and have not had a dinks since. I just have to have that mind set with my smoking. This quit is sooooooooooo much different and SSC has a lot to do with it. Again thanks. I was reading some posts today and came across something that really hit home for me. ParrotLady made a statement that gave me pause. You remember when you did smoke, all you wanted was to quit? For those of you who are new to this site can relate to this statement. As for me I am a repeater. I can say with a great deal of clarity this statement is so true. Every single time I quit and returned to smoking that was my thought. I need to quit, I want to quit, I am a loser, why cant I quit I must quit People are laughing behind my back when I say I am going to quit It goes on and on. I am not sure what is in store for me or for you, but this site is a lifesaver. With this quit, I feel so close to so many. I feel the support and have been given good direction. In the end the quit is mine to keep or to throw away. I say prayers in the morning asking for help and in the evening I say thank you. I just needed to respond to that statement. It rings with so many truths. Hello Sparky, I quit smokeing on this website, March 10th 2003, and a cigerette still hasn't touched my lips, And You say that You've quit and started back up several times, Well Friend, I have only one bit of advice for You, When You convince Yourself You want to quit, You have to replace those daily cigerettes with something else, Myself, I got addicted to excerciseing every day, I would do like 30 sit-ups every morning here in my computer room, and then I would walk a fast mile down the road, and come back, which was 2 miles, I quit smoking at 65 years of age, pack and a half aday, I have also lost 32 pounds in the last 9 months, just by walking and eating healthy foods, and excercising, Friend, I wouldn't trade places with no one right now in my journey, For I have this Positive Attitude, which is like no other, You can't no way make me go back to that addiction, for that is in the past, and this is the future, But like a lot of them on here, You have to Grit Your teeth, and get the Eye of the Tiger, For Nobody can do this for You, We can be in Your corner and encourage You, But You got to want to do this quit Yourself, I'm retired from this Smokeing Center now, But I still like to tell it like it is every so often, No, not Everyone's quit is the same, for We are All different in various ways, Good luck to You, Smokless in Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1325 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 39,775 Amount Saved: $5671 Life Gained: Days: 313 Hrs: 9 Mins: 19 Seconds: 14
