Having been a pregnant person (many times), it's not too hard for me to imagine "driving the drinkers", not drinking and smoking for an evening. Sound like you have coping mechanisms ready, if its get's too crazy, step outside and get fresh air. I think that you will find that your friends will be very proud of you. Protect that quit at all costs! You come first! Hi, Squeaker. If you really feel "the need", try this. Take a straw and cut it to about cig length. Put a couple of short folds in one end (the fire end) and bite them to crimp them down a bit. You can adjust how tight the folds are so that when you suck on the straw it feels just like taking a drag on a cig. It makes a great prosthetic cig. You can "smoke" it, or just hold it, handle it just like a cig. That goes a long way in satisfying the hand/mouth needs. Your boyfriend deserves a big tight hug for supporting you as he is. Have a good time, but if temptation gets too strong then run. Get away from them for a bit, even if it's just to go outside for some air. Luck has nothing to do with a quit. I wish you strength, Squeaker. Keep up the good quit. Hi Squeaker.....I too, never had any problems drinking and keeping my quit, but I understand that, for some, it can most definitley be a problem. Make sure that you can make your escape if things get too difficult for you. Print out some posts from the site that you can read to give you an extra boost if you need it. Remember you have CHOSEN not to smoke :) This is your choice! If all else fails and the "urge" to smoke hits you while you are out enjoying yourself, stare that d*mn demon in the eyes and and give him the two finger salute :p You'll be grand! Be strong and believe in yourself! Rachel Two years, five months, three weeks, four days, 22 hours, 30 minutes and 56 seconds. 18138 cigarettes not smoked, saving 4,081.03. Hi Squeaker78, No need to get hung up on the drinking thing. Far too much emphasis is put on it here. And watch out for emotive words too. It may have been a "battle" for some but remember it was an absolute breeze for others including me and some who have posted here already. It may be an absolute breeze for you too. All it boils down to really is do you want to quit and remain quit? If you do and you are strong and determined you will succeed with this despite normal life events. You are giving up smoking, not socialising - go and enjoy yourself, just don't smoke! Best Wishes Penitent d828

Squeaker, Good to see you back in the saddle :) You know why you slipped, so avoid this in the future. Have your coping mechanisms ready and post often. We are ready when you are :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
