Time passes so slowly Day 4- Need Help with the patch

Hi Maria, Youve already received good advice, and Id like to second Lunas. If you promise yourself to post before you smoke, or to read your list of reasons to quit before buying a pack, or anything to get you back on track, itll help you keep your quit. I tried using the gum, but found that it broke my mouth out, and the patches drove me nuts with itching and blistering, so I had to just do the cold turkey thing. It was not even as close to bad as Id imagined. My biggest problem was not sleeping. I really dont think I slept for more than 2 hours at a time for the first 22 days. Lack of sleep caused some problems, but I made sure to nap whenever I got the chance and I drank tons of ice water. Everyone will keep telling you to hang on that it will get better. The reason for this is that ITS TRUE. It does get much easier and you will feel so much better. Post whenever you feel like it and DONT SMOKE. :) Not cravin', never cavin'. Regarding the SSC IM. The trick is getting it installed and then all you have to do is add quit buddies and sign in! Perhaps someone will bump the instructions for installing it. Meanwhile, don't focus on or worry about the future. Take your quit one day at a time and even one hour at a time. When you have a rough patch, delay and distract: say to yourself..I am not going to smoke a cigarette for the next hour. Do that every hour and you'll be a proud quitter! Hang in there, maria! You can do this! Maria, I used the NRT (the patch) and here I am smoke free and loving it!!! You do need to be careful if you are using both the gum and patches? I have heard of doctors prescribing a combination of the two....but in the UK I'm not sure that is recommended. NRT is great if used correctly. But it's an aid ~ not a magic pill. Whatever method you choose....there will still be "symptoms" and the effects of withdrawal.....there's no geting around that. Those symptoms may not be severe (for some), but, you will experience some symptoms nonetheless. You are withdrawing from a life killing addiction. There will be times when it is not easy ..... but push through the rough times, because I promise you will experience a freedom like you could never imagine :) Another thing to remember is that it is common for time to become distorted in the first few days. One hour feels like 1 week!!! But this does pass... I promise :) Don't expect too much too soon. Just take each day in small chunks. Get through 5 minutes, and the another 5 and then another 5! It will come together...just be patient and stay close to the site :) Be strong and keep smiling :) :) Rachel Two years, six months, one week, four days, 22 hours, 40 minutes and 40 seconds. 18478 cigarettes not smoked, saving 4,157.56.
