This is just my humble opinion. I'd love to hear others views on this topic.
I see many posts, people at day 7, or day 10, or day 30 asking when the cravings are going to stop. I'm well over 100 days and I still get hit with cravings. At this point in my quit, it's not if I get a craving that counts, it's what I do with it. I ignore it and I don't respond to it. It goes away.
Smoking was a huge part of my life. I am fearful that a lot of folks out there think that after a week of not smoking they should be all done with it. Nothing is further from the truth. It took me 26 YEARS to become the smoker I was. It would be foolish for me to think that I will undo 26 YEARS in 100, 200, or even 300 days. I expect I will be working on my quit for the rest of my life to some degree. That's a good thing, not a bad thing.
I firmly believe that my body will heal, but it will never forget that I was a smoker. I also believe that 10 years into this quit, I will get hit with an urge out of nowhere that I'll have to deal with, and I will deal with it.
I think people need to set realistic expectations when they quit as to when they will not crave etc. People all want a quick fix. Smoking cessation is not a quick fix. Your body heals for years.
Folks - relax - you're normal if you crave. Even after a long time.
