Taking the Leap

This is it. Today is the day. No gett'n out of it and I don't want to. It's 7:21 a.m., my last cigarette was 6:00 a.m. yesterday (that sounds like a confessional). So that means - you guessed it. 24 hours. Today will be my first full wakeful day without a you-know-what. It's full speed ahead. I wish I would have thought ahead to have bought a T-shirt that says "Today is my day". I want strangers to pat me on the back as I walk down the street. I want to tell everybody "Yeah, that's right. I'm doing it, right now as I'm standing in front of you. I'm not smok'n!". I actually feel happy today, which I haven't in a long time. I want to relish this first day and make a big deal b/c I don't ever want to be in this position again of saying that it is my first day quitting. EVER! I know the cravings, withdrawals and evil moods will hit me like a brick soon. But in the mean time I want to be stupid happy. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/19/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13 Amount Saved: $5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 0 Seconds: 37

Struggling. Had some particularly stressful moments today. Still clear. Thanks for the support. CogenFan: I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond. Aside from the normal p--- me off triggers, was able to stay positive about the smoking - not! Although sometimes it's hard to nurture a positive attitude around my group. I am grateful for your support. I need it right now. Thanks. P.S. Am staying in a hotel tonight where the smoking section is right outside my room (luckily it's down one story from my porch). I leave here in two days for another location and won't be here much. I was sensitive to smoking people and opportunities around me today, but was able to keep clear. 24 HOURS!!!! That is a great and euphoric feeling you got going right now... that is awesome! It is really great that you are on the lookout for the other shoe to drop! Hey, maybe it wont drop! That is the beauty of this quit thing isnt it? A whole new life ahead of us. One for which cigarrettes have denied us. That euphoric feeling you feel is "hey I CAN actually do this!" Remember this feeling and draw on it anytime you feel down. I just got that rush just now..It is a wonderful feeling, Thank you for reminding me again!---Kevin My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 278 Amount Saved: $59.8 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 22 Seconds: 50

Awesome attitude! That is a winner's attitude if I ever did see one! Keep it going, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Let us know how you are doing. Make that attitude of yours contagious. Hold on there Imallclear ~ stay positive and focused. This can be tough, but only as bad as you make it. Keep your chin up and your coping mechanisms at the ready! Drinks lots and lots of water and hang out here and read until your eyeballs hurt. We're behind you 100%. Glad you are choosing to quit smoking for a better healthy life!!! There is only one YOU! Take care and fight hard! Imallclear, You are doing just fine! Keep your head held high, and strength on your back. Now, I know you cannot be perky all the time, but from the way you sound, you sound like a pretty positive person. That will only benefit you and your quit! Keep it up! Hooray for you ~ you are doing it! 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 260 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,828 Amount Saved: $850.2 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 23 Mins: 54 Seconds: 57
