Members, As tempting as it may be, you must stay focused on your goal, and that is to be a non-smoker. Keep persevering! Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

today is my 7th day...i wondered about the cig smell and if - one day - it won't smell so tempting....i was better a few days ago - today seems more difficult. i am trying to find ways to congratulate my senses - i put on perfume and used my daughter's berry shampoo...must admit that when i walked by the new york city smokers huddled in front of their buildings at lunchtime, i was envious. but when i got home and saw one of those guilt-inducing commericals..i was proud of my cold-turkey self. tomorrow will be day #8 and i can get there. yup. not one puff ever. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Been a month and I still love the smell of a ciggy. I hate stale smoke, but to be walking along outside and to pass a smoker or to walk up to where I work there is always a group of guys outside smoking. I hope one day that I wont like the smell as much as I do and I was kind of hoping that I would hate it by now but I don't. I just keep reminding myself this is for my health and look at all that money I have saved. And now a year later I was outside talking to a coworker who was smoking. She expresses herself with a lot of hand waving as she talks. She was so excited that I quit smoking. She had the cig in between her fingers and the smoke found my mouth and my nose. And once again, my sinues, my thoat, oh my lungs took another beating! I think once you give them up in a very short while, couple weeks to a month, you start to hate the smell and the smoke. Oh that smoke :gasp: :gasp: :gasp: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 753 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,554 Amount Saved: $4,141.50 Life Gained: Days: 140 Hrs: 9 Mins: 12 Seconds: 16

Saturday I went to a bar and on the ride home I could not get over how bad my hair smelled! And I didn't smoke! The next morning I went to put on the new sweater I had worn the night before and couldn't because it reeked. I can't believe I never smelled smoke on myself... That was another small eye opener. Staying strong thanks to Wellbutrin! no one has been allowed to smoke in my car or home since college days. Even when I smoked. That's been a loooong time ago. To place confines on a guest's behavior is not rude. Rather, it is one's responsiblity as a host to guide a guest's behavior. Any guest who does not expect and respect that guidence is rude and should be responded to accordingly. I've never had a problem. I find most people respectful, wanting to enjoy themselves and willing to accomidate. I do look forward to the day that smoke will hurt my throat. Just kidding. Nice post. Really. you're right with the nuance of it. After a while one of the smokers saw me in the hallway and said "Did you quit smoking?" To my response, he said "good for you". I think he meant it. but, we're not one of them anymore. I don't think those same people who acted funny would be so uneasy once inside the non-smoking environment. I would like to hope that that would only occur in the smoking situation. although, they are not going to ask you out anywhere. but, nobody i ever smoked with ever went out with me before. there is a smoking etiquette (sp?), not unlike there is elevator etequette. Good to savor the experiences of those who have crossed over. Thanks for sharing.
