Dearest Lady,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the other family, too. We have had much the same circumstances and it does indeed take fortitude for all involved. We don't know what to say, and they don't either, but we saw him the other day and just said our prayers are with you and we are here if you want us. He cried and hugged us, said "every one seems to be moving on, but I can't." So I know where you are.
But maybe you could pick up that phone and talk to your friend, just to tell her you are there for her? That you are thinking of her, that you love her, and that you miss him too? I doubt that she has moved on from there this soon. And there are clinical, specific stages of grieving everyone goes through. And every loved one lost reminds us of those others we've lost. It's human and understandable and you need to be where you are. There are no right or wrong feelings. They just are what they are. Feelings.
With love, Denise
