Slivers,
I think Lady's likening of cigarettes to a best "friend" or being in a bad relationship is right on the money. They were always there, good or bad times. It takes a lot of courage to break out of the relationship that is killing you and suddenly be on your own. Looky there, your standing on your own two feet!! You don't need no stinkin' other half. You are whole just the way you are, and damn proud of it!
I find I have so much more time on my hands, which tells me how much of my life these cigarettes consumed, in time and health. Leaving a life with a "friend & lover" for your own good is hard, but a little strength, creativity and imagination will help fill the voids.
