It's really true about being armed, ready to do battle. I found that this site and Chantix play a huge role in this, my final quit. I'm a non-smoker. I could see myself picking up a cigarette some day, but will come here and beg for someone to talk me down. I'm not 100% confident and don't think I'll ever be. Good thread. Brentw1: GREAT post -- words worth printing out when one begins sadly listen to the junkie voices. New Quitters: Brent's words are the voices you need to listen to -- the realities of being a smoker! Thank you for the post -- good stuff and congratulation on your fabulous quit and your life as a nonsmoker. NOPE -- not one puff ever! On reflection, that title was a bit of a shocker wasn't it :8o: :8o: :8o: But then again, I did always have a curious sense of humour :p Brent My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/8/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 437 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,062 Amount Saved: 2185 Life Gained: Days: 71 Hrs: 7 Mins: 3 Seconds: 14

...........to find one single solitary reason for smoking!!!! Hi everyone, I thought I'd pop in and say hello, particularly to all the new quitters. A few observations on life, the universe, giving up smoking etc. GIVING UP WHAT?????? breath like a sumo wrestlers jockstrap? losing a leg? only being attractive to other stinking people? no money because you've set fire to it all? coughing attractively all over the breakfast table and hawking up great gobs of infected slobber? dying too soon? standing in the rain cos you can't smoke in the office? smelling like three week old road kill? Getting funny looks from people in lifts because frankly you stink? Oh......and looking sophisticated as you choke on another tube with a fire at one end and a fool at the other? Why the rant :8o: Because of another two failures....thats why. Two girls at my wifes office "gave up" smoking for the new year. They were doomed to failure. No preparation, no proper thought process and certainly no support or information. We passed them the details of the SSC but they were probably too scared to come on. Scared? It is fear that trips up most people. Fear that life will be unbearable without your little "friend". Fear that you will not enjoy life without nicotine. Its that giving up word again. The only thing you are giving up is a drug addiction. You stop smoking. You simply stop putting things in your mouth and setting fire to them. You get your life back.....literally one minute, one hour, one day at a time. You have only things to gain and nothing to give up at all. So hang on in there and remember that it is so simple to stop.....you just don't smoke!
