Cincere, I am SO glad that you checked in! I haven't been here in weeks but am glad I was here today to see this. You are awesome and wise. Obviously because you are staying quit but because you are acknowledging what you need and getting it. That is wisdom ;) Congrats on a heck of a great way to start 2007! Cindy....We understand the feelings you are having....we also know that the thoughts of smoking that run circles in your head are all lies. Smoking won't help one single thing that is wrong in your life. All smoking does is feel your addiction to nicotine. That addiction is what makes quitting so hard. The only way around it is through it. There is no way to fool it or to bargain with it....and the only way to beat it is to keep saying NO. The hurting, the craving and the side effects of saying no will gradually go away....if you smoke the demon will never quit demanding that you smoke more. My prayers go out for you and your many problems. May the Lord somehow bring you solutions for each and every one of them. But, Cindy, YOU can take care of the smoking problem.....you are on the right track....just keep coming. It WILL get easier to not smoke God Bless Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1761 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 70,465 Amount Saved: $10037.7 Life Gained: Days: 229 Hrs: 18 Mins: 43 Seconds: 43

I have to agree....you should be sooooooooo proud of your accomplishments!!! Don't ever sell yourself short. Regarding your feelings of depression, anger and sadness, if they have been carrying on for a long time, perhaps you need to talk to your doctor about a referral. Some family doctor's do not have the expertise to properly assess things such as A.D.D. In addition, there are several different types of antidepressants. If you have not seen any benefit from the zoloft at this point, you may be taking the wrong prescription. There was a post on here from someone who was diagnosed with A.D.D. after they quit smoking. You may wish to copy it (share it with your doctor???...I'm not sure) She certainly benefitted from the proper diagnosis and treatment. It seems that many of us experience depression, anger, etc during or quit. We know that smoking will not solve the problem. Is this a phase of your quit or have you been feeling this way for a long time? Please never forget to look at what an amazing woman you are. You have managed to conquer one major addiction and one serious illness...and you have maintained over 50 days quit while working full-time and raising 5 children!! My Lord...I am exhausted just thinking about it. Keep your strong faith in God and have faith in yourself. You are more than worthy! Cincere I agree with all of the above, you are quite a strong woman. Don't give in to smoking, you know how to do this, you just need a little help right now, look at those stats. Maybe the zoloft is not working anymore, you really need to fing someone in the medical field who will listen. You should be very very proud of yourself, for all that you have achieved. I congratulate you and admire your courage. Congratulations on all the addictions you seem to have under control! That is quite impressive. Smoking is just one more to add, and at 53 days you are well on your way. It's hard not to take things personally when things go wrong for our children socially. I also have 5 children (now between the ages of 10-24). Three were diagnosed ADD and/or LD and my middle daughter is bi-polar and struggles with addictions (OCD/eating disorders/drugs and alcohol...) There may be many reasons why the classmates didn't show...I stopped with the class party's for much of the same reason and began inviting a few playmates I knew would come and having a more extravagant party for just a few. It was also less overwhelming for my child. Make an appointment with a psychiatrist that deals with adult ADD. There are a whole lot of new medicines out there, including a patch, for ADD. In any event, DON'T SMOKE! It's bad for you ;p My thoughts and prayers are with you! I find your strength and courage very admirable!
I am having such a rough time. I'm afraid that I am on the verge of a relapse. I am really sick of fighting this. I am angry, sad and depressed.
Fighting wears us out. Hand your frustration over to God. Let him work on them. You concentrate on being grateful and loving ... and have a great day.
I was addicted to cocaine and have been clean for 9 years...I was bulimic for 12 years...I've been to counselling and rehab but have come to the conclusion that faith in God is the only real solution...I am raising 5 children and working full time...3 of my children have ADD, 1 has dyslexia
You sound like wonder woman to me! Are you taking any 'YOU' time? Are you 'rewarding' yourself at all? Please do not forget to take care of yourself in healthy ways: treat yourself to a manicure/pedicure, a massage, a bubble bath, a gourmet coffee with a friend, etc.
My husband smokes/drinks and the temptation is always near.
Life is full of temptation. Take pleasure in making the right choices. Make God's heart smile.
Will smoking help?
I've never heard ANYONE say that they were so happy that they started smoking again and that it made all of their problems go away. Smoking does nothing but add more problems to our life.
I'm tired of the fight to regain my life.
Then stop fighting. Hand your life over to God. Let God do the struggling so that you can get on with living.
if the stigma of addiction, depression and ADD is going to shade my life forever.
You know what the wonderful thing is about labels? We can peel them off and throw them away whenever we choose to. It is all a matter of perspective. Think highly of yourself. You've come a long way! You are awesome!
Quitting smoking was supposed to make me feel more worthy but right now I sure don't feel good about myself.
Expectations always set us up for disappointments. Let go of expectations/fortune telling and take things one step at a time for what they are. You can do this ... just look at all you've been though and all you have overcome. Been there, done that. cincere, ditto to what Penguin said. You have been clean for 9 years - way to go. So you know what recovery is. Use the tools, and use this site. Sounds like you know what to do - do it. Trust God, Clean House, Help others. Look in the mirror and remind yourself that you are worthwhile!!! God doesn't make junk!!
