Glad that Rob47 is part of that 25 to 30% as he used an NRT, I however did not in this quit because I had such an adverse reaction to them. Where are the percentages from ???? Each here and through the world has there own quit, what works for some does not work for others. I do know that shock therapy can be very harmful. Just as a labotomy would most likely not work for me. I dream of my youth and when a little sheet of something called windowpane work very well, I doubt that that would work now... OH TIME, cause time for me does work wonders at healing almost all. A great post. And I mean a great post, and one that should be bumped from time to time. I did a bit on "smugness" some time ago because we can all get a bit complacent and forget how hard it was when we get a few weeks or months under our belts. I personally don't remember anything good about smoking as you have described, and say this in the interests of balance, particularly for the newbies. We are all different...............some of us will never look back..........some of us will from time to time. What we all need to remember is that we can all be back to square one with a single puff. Whatever the failure rate, and it is high, it is an addiction (in my opinion) that is unquestionably worth doing without..... whatever the memories. My cool parents are aging hippies so I was drawn to your post straight away. This is a good post Rob! I understand you better now. Whether or not �I get it� remains to be seen~lol Few people understand me, so I can empathize with that feeling. Straight up, your quit method would not have worked for me but it seems to me there are as many successful ways to quit, as there are SSC members. I try to be open-minded when it comes to quit smoking methods. I quit ct but I�d run out and buy anyone a box of patches if they wanted them to quit. (I tend to get a vicarious sense of satisfaction seeing others quit 'and stay quit' regardless of how they manage to do it.) Your method is interesting to me because it seems so simple. I know it�s not been simple at all for you, but compared to my quit plan it is 'less complicated'. (IE: Rewards, self-talk, learning new coping skills, etc.) Changing gears a second, I�ve always said the SSC it is interesting study in human social behavior. It�s a bit like watching Survivor or some other reality show. The differences among us are quite obvious. Like Shevie has said elsewhere, their will always be some sort of controversy when you get a diverse group of people (expressing opinions) together. Then it sort of dominoes into what it has become today. Which just sucks because I like Dani and I like Phillip and I happen to believe they both want to be here without having to feel defensive all the time. *sure don't mean to stir the pot~just want to be straight forward~so no one misunderstands* Hell, I have no doubt some

It was just one of those things that came across differently than intended. It happens to all of us, especially in the early weeks of quit.
