Hi, everyone: I also missed whatever the ruckus was; not because I didn't check the site, but because I sort of read whatever happens to appear on the screen. Beautiful, beautiful; imgonna: wow!I know that MY prior failures at quitting have helped me in different ways, and now maybe they can help me to help someone else. I know that when I read these posts I learn from all of your (techniques? experience?) slips. And Monica58: Beautiful. And every response down the line, here, inspiring to me. Thanks, lladro

Gonna: I know how difficult this has been for you, but nobody can tell you how you are feeling/should feel/will feel. It's your call and your choice, as you know. Peteg's words were wonderful and I couldn't agree more with his sentiments. Very well written. Hang in there and please be good to yourself. We need you and your wisdom here, in all your "human-ness". Keep the faith and let's start anew! Your post is so true. I know exactly how you feel/felt when you were crying because of the strength received from the awesome people here especially when we were in our most vulnerable states. This site does have many people from a variety of different backgrounds.. but the bottom line is everyone is coping and fighting to keep their quit alive. When one of us falls we feel their pain and we lend our support, our compassion, our own strengths to give them a hand back up so that they can start all over again. This IS truly an amazing place to be and the title of your thread "human nature/basic animals" is what we are here. We are honest with eachother, we do not judge - but we also can give a part of ourselves to eachother and speak straight from the heart. We can be gentle and we can be somewhat harsh.. but we take and we give unconditionally! No post has ever gone unnoticed or not responded to..I find that to be truly remarkable! And gonnadoit ~~ we love you too ! ~~ May we all spread our wings and fly free .... Oh my Dear Gonna -- What an Honor to Respond to you --- Not everyone counts, honey. Me, I'm Anglican clergy, and unlike some who insist on peering into bedrooms to see who's doing what to whom, which mortifies us all, a lot of us learned a long time ago not to count, keep track, or keep score, which can be a terrible thing. We see nothing but your presence among us, which is a huge gift to us all. Thanks for hanging in with us-- peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,194 Amount Saved: $346.5 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 16 Mins: 5 Seconds: 58

Hey Gonna - You know this whole experience of quitting is such an extreme emotional experience. It's not surprising to me that I feel so close to those of you who have gone through this experience with me. Absolutely noone in my non-internet world has any idea how difficult, how rewarding, exciting, traumatizing, etc etc this whole journey has been. When there are "rifts", I always take it to heart because this feels like a kind of "family" to me. I also find it very hard when someone leaves. (Even the ones that grow up and leave the house!!) You have done sooo well and you have helped me laugh and smile during some of the worst times. So no more tears - C'mon....let's go get some coconuts and have a big old SCC party! Hi Gonna, I just loved your post! This is a very special place with very special people. I've made some dear friends I haven't met in person, yet I'm coming to know you very well. And I feel very comfortable with you guys. If it weren't for this site and people like you, I don't think I'd be so determined to do this. I'm so happy to be here smoke free today, and I thank you guys for that! I haven't been here much the last couple days and I seemed to have missed some drama, which by the way is fine with me. I, like you gonna get emotional about it. No one wants their family fighting right? Like you said, lets get on with smoking! I feel so very silly right now. I have spent the last hour crying over the SSC. Admittedly, I have been a bit emotional the last few days with/without controversy. I spent the New Year watching 'The Prince and I', followed by 'Lassie' with my 10 year old and we both cried like babies! LOL At 115 days, last night, and again today, I have been thinking more of smoking/quitting than I have in quite awhile. I've been staying real close to that 10 year old, who keeps me honest :) I figure quitting smoking is my New Years resolution (Since I have a 115 days head-start, LOL). Really need to lose a little weight also, so I guess (RELUCTANTLY) I'll visit the weight loss forum (GROAN!!!) Why the tears? You guys have been such a strength for me throughout my quit, and I truly HATE to see people at odds on this site! Let's recognise that everyone is different. From different cultures and backgrounds, etc... I have slipped numerous times myself. Sometimes I reset my meter, sometimes I did not...I WILL tell you that my meter is correct today (**proudly boasting**). A slip is not the end. Nor is a full relapse. I have learned something new every time. In fact---I would not have 115 days today if I had NOT slipped a few times. I NEEDED those slips ( I hope that makes sense...) Some people WANT to analyze and dwell on WHAT went wrong.... Others KNOW what the problem is and want to let by gones be by gones... Some reset their meters, some do not (I hope those in full relapse do---but they aren't fooling themselves, are they? And that is what counts.) I love you guys..........let's get on with quitting, shall we? Gonnadoit, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We are grateful for members like you who come in and contribute everyday. Who help those who are struggling or just need a cheering section. It takes a lot of courage to come in and admit to a slip or a relapse. It is important that we do not judge them but instead help them get back up and learn from their experience so that they may go on. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team
