Well I finally broke down and took my first 1/2 of the clonasepam today. I was given the prescription(take .5 mg in morn and than another .5 in evening) on Friday lol. Anyway it did well. The only problem I have seen so far is I wasn't able to sleep when I felt exhausted at 2 pm today...Naptime was useless. Anyone else experience that with this med???

Steve The ativan does wonders. I feel groggy afterwards but it completly takes care of my anxiety attacks if I can get on top of it before they are full strength. The ativan too is addicting and will cause seizures when you wean off. So is the paxil. Fun stuff this mental meds are aren't they? ;0)

Before I ever saw my 1st pshcyhiatrist at a clinic over here, the nurse gave me propananol(inderal)before my 1st visit with him. I was told that was a beta blocker & I had extremly high blood pressure so I've been on that ever since & was told to take it 2X a day with meals, but when I was in college I kinda took too much of it because my heart was beating fast from time to time.... Klonopin-------I've been on that for about 4 years up to 2MG. Very addictive stuff. I'ts really meant for seizures as I've been reading alot but it's also for panic attacks & agoraphobia I guess....Trying to come off it for me is very hard not to scare you but you could go into convulsions from tapering it or especially stopping it right away from what I heard. It makes me say & do things I regret sometimes by itself...& I used to be a heavy drinker and drink on top of it too....just use your imagination.....they don't mix In school it made me EXTREMELY forgetful now that I think about it I've been on it way too long I'm more forgetful then ever...I hope it's not done permanent damage I don't know it could be depression too... I feel like my nerves are completey shot & out of all the meds I've been on I felt like Klonopin kinda worked for me (Xanax was OK but it doesn't stay in your system nowhere as long-Xanax hit me faster, Klonopin just stays in my system) but I've been on Klonopin & Inderal so long I really think it's slowing me down way too much... I think as long as you don't become addicted to it like I am most of the time you'll be OK. How is Ativan for you?

Mental dr prescribed CLONAZEPAM (klonopin) today for me to try instead of ativan. Any advice on this?? I usually dont fair well with new meds so I am hesitant to try it. I have been taking 1 mg of ativan. My family dr thought my heartbeat was too fast and prescribed PROPRANOLOL for it. Again scared to take it. Anyone taken that???

I've been on Xanax since '98 and they've worked well up to now. Recently, for some reason, the attacks have gotten worse and Xanax won't control them now so he gave me Klonopin. I did definitely feel the effects of the drug for a longer period of time than the Xanax and the doctor did tell me that Klonopin is stronger than Xanax, but I guess it all depends on the dosage too.

Weird I thought Klonopin wasn€™t as strong as Xanax, my pdoc gave me some but I haven€™t tried it yet, she wouldn€™t give me xanax. I also have panic disorder.

Yeah I had to take one last night when I felt that familiar sensation start creeping up on me. About an hour later it felt like Steve Erwin shot me with a traquilizer dart and I was out. LOL. 10 hours later I woke up groggy in my bed. Not sure if I'll be able to take these on work days tho!

Hi Joel, Both are in the benzo family. I have been on both. The klonopin stays longer in your system than Xanax does. The only difference I found was, it takes about an hour to take effect, where Xanax you feel the effects in about 15-20 mins, but doesnt last near as long. As long as you take it as directed, you wont feel a change it the way it relieves the anxiety, but you will notice that it lasts twice as long in your system than the Xanax. Hope this helps. Trish

I had to go back to my doctor today for panic disorder. I actually started having a panic attack in the waiting room and had to help myself back to the doctors lounge(probably making a very large fool of myself I'm afraid)! Luckily they were nice enough to see me earlier than my scheduled time. When the doctor came in my room I was dowsing my face with cold water from the tap(I hate the hot flashes). Anyway, to make a long story shorter, he took me off .5 Xanax and gave me 1.0 Klonopin. He said it was stronger. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had this type of medication and how well it works? :quest:
