I started out with patches. They were a good mental crutch for me to use while I worked on my fear of quitting. Once I knew I could go a week without smoking, my confidence was up and my fear was gone. Physically I didn't feel so good and it was no wonder IMO, as the patches were continuing to put the drug in my system. Isn't this the drug that is causing me to be addiction and causing me to have physical withdrawals? Well, yep it sure is! So, fear gone, I tore my 21mg patch off and 3 days later felt so much better physically. It was the best thing I could have done for my quit. The patch just prolongs the physical withdrawal process IMO.
BUT ... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT ... so you must do what you think will aid you in YOUR QUIT. Whatever you decide ... as long as you don't smoke will be what works for you.
Keep that quit going and CONGRATS!
Fondly,
