Hi MaryEllen; Thanks for joining us. This is my 3rd time in quitting. I've decided it's my last time too. One thing about my prior quits that I noticed, the more I beat myself up over them the harder it made it to quit/stay quit. Just like anything else in life, what's in the past can't be changed. Easy to say, I know. But really you gotta just junk it & get on with the quit. When those thoughts come, have some positive ones ready to 'force' yourself to think about. Have to retrain that subconscious junkie, don't cha know. You are at day 5, Hell Week is almost over, be proud girlfriend. Hang in there, hang with us, you'll get through it & so will we! Well, I had quit for 14 days & went back for 5! I keep beating myself up about it. But, I'm now back on track. I love this website! It keeps me motivated. All the discussion's are very helpful. I keep telling myself how much money I'm saving not only from not buying ciggarettes but, also from not buying asthma medication. Any support is greatly appreciated! MaryEllen, Don't be so hard on yourself. You've experienced a slip, now is the time to learn from it and keep going. If your quit plan isn't always effective in helping you fight cravings, it's time to review your plan, identify problem areas and modify what isn't working. You can always post it on the forums, in our feedback or webmail and we will be more than happy to help to give you some feedback. Are you rewarding yourself frequently? If you have nothing to look forward to, nothing worth more than smoking than what do you have to work towards? What motivates you through those cravings? What have you replaced smoking with? Ex: You use to smoke with your cup of coffee, now you read the paper instead. What other coping mechanisms are you using to help you fight cravings? Gum, walking, posting, mints, deep breathing, water? Keep strong! You can do this! You have 5 days under your belt! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
