I am so sorry for your husband and for you. I know Try how difficult it is when a loved one gets bad news. When you first get it it's absolutely normal to feel all the emotions you are right now.
If it's not too bold of me to ask.. Due to the strokes, did the dr. put him on med's for his heart/cardiovascular system? Did he have any of the tell tale signs of stroke - blurred vision, fatigue, paralyzation of one of the body (including the face)?
I think right now Try the best thing for the both of you is to talk about what the dr. said and also remind yourselves of how many blessings you have in your lives. The fact that you both stopped smoking is a blessing in disguise and it may be 30 days stopped - which may not seem to be a lot at this point, it may have been much worse if you both didn't quit when you did.
I'm really at a loss for many more words because I am not a dr. of medicine or psychology -- All I do know is that I'm in a situation on a daily basis with a very sick husband and I just do all that I can to make him comfortable, keep his stress levels at a minimum (due to strokes and heart attacks that he's had so far), all foods cooked from scratch and which are very heart healthy ..i.e. lots of fish etc.
I'm here for you.. if you have Phil's email, or Denise's..you can get mine from them.
Sending you as much support as possible from this small venue.
