Hi quittime - One very important fact in quitting - is to own your own power... YOU are very powerful, quittime - you are stronger and more powerful than you addiction... If your desire to quit is stronger than your desire to smoke, the rest is just the rest... It's tough stuff -this Quit journey, AND it's possible and doable moment to moment, as Lady says, one step at a time... Don't get ahead of yourself, quittime -stay in the moment (that's where your power is)... don't worry what's to come, just stand in your truth that you are Quit and you are staying that way. Period. Commitment. Focus. Coping skills to get you through the tough times. Distractions. Protecting your Quit at all times, with everything in you... That's the recipe of a successful Quit, friend... Yes, quittime, it will get better. You'll have fewer and fewer rough times and more and more good days. You just have to push through if you really want to quit. Let me tell you something as a professional woman and smoker of 40 years. You may think that you are a secret smoker, but you're not. Now that I'm a nonsmoker, I can tell a smoker easily...by the voice, by the cough, and by the smell. I didn't fool anyone and neither did you. The cravings will NOT stay this strong. Every hour and every day that you say NO, you will get stronger and they will get weaker. The addiction will have a variety of tricks to try to wear you down, but you can be stronger than your addiction! Always remember that each thought you have that leans you in the direction of smoking a cigarette is a JUNKIE LIE. Don't be lied to. Don't give up control. I know it's hard. I went through it and every quitter on this site has gone through it. But we are all testimony to the fact that it is DOABLE. You can do it, too! quittime, Congrats on getting through your first week - that really is a HUGE accomplishment! Have you planned any alternative ways to relieve stress? Walking, a hot bath, cooking, reading or watching a movie? The weekends can be rough because of all the extra time but if you can get a plan in place it may help. I'm not sure if you are still drinking wine but some find it helpful to avoid (or cut down) on caffeine and alcohol. Replacements like hot tea or decaf may be a good idea until you are further into your quit. These things will even out. Did you reward yourself for your first week as a non-smoker?
