I need to understand the process here: Erika, are you looking for the support of the group or Liz? I feel like kind of a voyeur until you stop making this rather public quit all about you and Liz; if that's your intent, you might do better to do it via IM; if not, why not invite others into the conversation?
The one thing I would say to anyone, any time (but especially now) is that there is never a good time to quit, and there is never a good reason to keep killing ourselves slowly. So at some point, Christmas, Easter, Good Friday, Ground Hog Day, we choose life.
When we choose life, death makes embarrassingly pathetic attempts to capture our attention. "I'm Christmas!" says death. ExCUSE me??? We don't want to stop killing ourselves slowly because it might mess with our Christmas??
Let's just stop and take a minute to consider the impact of that, shall we? I've lived with the very same warped logic for years, and I'm mortified by it.
Christmas is about life, not death. It's about smelling like evergreen, cinnamon, and nutmeg; not stale cigarette smoke. It's about the ability to embrace the miracles of kids without wondering when we can sneak outside for a smoke.
Christmas is not your reason to keep smoking, darlin, it's your biggest invitation to reclaim your life. The stales get a little high here, and I'm pulling as hard as I possibly can for you.
