Actually, I am starting to slow down since I quit. I realize now that I was always waiting for my next "hit". I couldn't stand when I got held up in a line, got caught on the phone at work, delayed at a social gathering.....because I was waiting for my smoke! Like Lady, I am finally starting to relax........ Great post...there were so many good responses. Yes, I think so. I don't think smokers are a very relaxed lot. I also think smokers don't take in everything that's going on around them. Previously as a non smoker, after the initial "tired, cranky" phase, I found I was more alert and paid more attention to things. Perhaps listened more closely to people, just got more out of life in general. As a smoker, I feel rushed, agitated, and don't pay as much attention to things as I should. Perhaps that's because I've always been so busy thinking, "when can I go outside for my next smoke?" I'm tired of living like that. Tired of being a slave to cigarettes. Just my thoughts, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

I'm much more relaxed now that I've quit smoking. In fact, this is something that I've really had to get used to because it's not ME! The "old" me was very wired, nervous, anxious, hyper and I'm sure down right annoying! In the past year and a half, I've heard people actually describe me as subdued, relaxed and shy. HA!!! If they only knew me before!!! In fact, somebody said this very thing to me today! This girl said that I'm completely calm, despite the amount of Mt. Dew I drink a day (I finish a 2 liter everyday - just at work! That's not counting what I have after I get home!) And she was amazed at how calm I am! Well, nobody EVER described me as calm when I smoked!!! And to think, I used to think that I smoked so that I could calm down! I used to think that if I didn't smoke, nobody could STAND being around me because I would be so hyper! I used to think that my smoking was a BLESSING to those who had to be around me so that I could be calm and "normal." HA!!! That's a nicodemon LIE!!! Smoking does NOT make you calm!!! Crave the Quit! This is a journey to success! Every quit is different, and the important thing to remember is one day at a time :) You gain so much time when you quit and it is a great way to rediscover all the finer things in life :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
