FAILED THE FIRST SHOULD I TRY AGAIN; HELP

Paul If you are asking how to use the medication, I can not answer that...You will need to consult with your doctor, he can tell you how to realign your quit date, I am not qualified to advise you on the ins and outs of this medication... HOWEVER, if you are asking if you should get back in the fight to overcome this thing, the answer is YES YES YES and YES...Before you begin, gather your emotional, spiritual and practical resourses around you...Set up a plan to fight the craves, UNDERSTAND the nature of this vicious addiction and then join the dance...There are many people here who will invest in your success, BUT as many people have told me YOUR WILL TO QUIT MUST OUT WEIGH YOUR WILL TO SMOKE...You must find that gut strength in you (Which by the way has always been there) and say I will no longer lounge around in this nicotine dream, this is a false reality, I am strong enough, tough enough and angry enough to stop listening to the lies this thing has told my mind and body ever since I invited it to have tea... Go for it my friend, we are here to catch you if you fall, but you must also steady yourself as you go with the conviction that I CAN DO THIS...Because you really can... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,498 Amount Saved: $434 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 14 Mins: 19 Seconds: 32

Hi Paul, Welcome to the SSC..."You bet your sweet bippy" You try again!!! (My daughter and I both are on the Chantix (her idea to try it from testimonies of her friends). She fell off the wagon...but has a new date set.) I am a 56 yr-old grandma...30+ year smoker (over 2pks a day). Quit Cold-Turkey once...being a non=smoker then for 10 years! Started back...like a junkie fool, and tried several times over the last 5-6 yrs to quit using almost everything others are using. I simply just caved everytime...because the cravings were too bad using the other products...they just didn't work for me. I knew if...they could come up with something to get me through the first 3 or 4 days...I would have it licked. WHA-LA...here comes Chantix! Have you been working the program on the left? Are you getting your plan together? Chantix makes it easy to get your plan together with the 1st week as your smoking week. Take time to think about your reasons for quitting. Read the posts past and present. Since you've been using the Chantix, have you noticed yourself cutting back on the amount of cigaretts you smoke? (remember to take it as directed, after meals) Allen Carr is the author of the book that will change your thinking about smoking and educate you. I haven't read his book, but others here have. My cold-turkey quit was my education about this addiction. I KNOW THE EVIL NICODEMON :eg: ;p He is the evil brother of alcohol, cousin of cocaine, uncle of heroin and has a disputable reputation of being Mr. Handy Man. He's always handy to take away your pain from any emotion and escort you to an early grave (one way or the other). It's your quit Paul and your decision...when you are ready. We will help you win this fight... auntdeb ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,773 Amount Saved: $261.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 15 Mins: 7 Seconds: 29

Paul, Yes, definitely try again! I'm also a Chantix quitter and I took the drug for 13 days before I actually quit smoking. So yes, never give up trying. Have you worked the program to the left of this screen? If you haven't, do so ASAP! It will help you a lot. And also read lots of the older posts here on the SSC. There is a wealth of information there also. And when all else fails, ask for help from all the wonderful folks here! Truly amazing! Let us know how you are doing, ok? I took Chantix for 3 weeks stoping and puffing and starting over and over again. But one day I figured it out. You can't ever puff ever. Or you just don't stop smoking. Took Chantix for 5 weeks after I stoped smoking. So for shure keep stoping until you get it. Paul, I'm no doctor, but shouldn't you be taking your meds for a prescribed period of time before attempting your quit? Let the Chantix do its thing. Try again? Oh you bet you should! It does get easier as time goes on. You CAN do this, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,304 Amount Saved: $387 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 21 Mins: 17 Seconds: 47

Paul, I first went on the patches in Nov 2005, but could not resist having a couple of cigs in the evening (I used to smoke 30-40 a day). This went on until February 2006, when I just decided enough was enough, set my quit date and never looked back since. I wouldn't say it's been easy, but the key is getting the mindset where your desire to quit outweighs the desire to smoke. take care keep quitting Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 377 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,316 Amount Saved: 2827.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 11 Mins: 23 Seconds: 35
