Audrey, if only I could make you feel the way I do. It's hard to believe how much my feelings have changed. I feel so happy and maybe that is because I am a positive person, I don't know. Anyway, I wish you the best. Have a great weekend and please hang in tight. It will get better with time...I promise. However, like a lot of things in life, things may get worse before they get better. Hang in there! Audrey, I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time right now. You have every right to be frustrated. Please know that smoking won't solve any of it, may make it worse. You have done the best thing for your body and it will thank you immensely someday. Hang in there, it will get better. KiwiKeith, Good for you! Consulting your MD is a good step in the right direction. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Audrey, All's I can preach is patience. You are doing great on your quit. The sinus thing will get better I promise you, as I said earlier in this thread, I had 2 nasty episodes of what you are going through. I don't want to dwell on the negative of the sinus thing, but I do want to praise you for sticking it out so far and doing the right things, like go seeing the different doctors and finding out what the root cause of the problem is. It really does get better, I have not had a sinus infection now for around 3 months. Last time I went to the Doc's for a checkup, he checked them out, and said it's the clearest he has ever seen them. I know, no matter what anyone else says, how much praise, or how much backing they give you, going through this stage of the quit sucks. Stick with it Freebird ~'~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 151 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,540 Amount Saved: $634.2 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 10 Mins: 40 Seconds: 38

Audrey, give it time. I also have always had sinus problems. After the quit I went through 2 nasy episodes of sinus infections where it felt like the left side of my head was filled with crud and my eye could pop right out. Seemed like the 2 episodes where within three weeks of each other and I was thinking the same thing as you, I thought not smoking would help the sinus infections. Well it is true. I took it as instead of having the nasty cough and stuff coming out of my lungs, this was the way my body was telling me it was healing, and sure enough it did. Once I cleared that hurdle, the breathing, taste, smell and all other senses seemed to come alive like when I was a kid tasting, smelling, running for the 1st time, and OH what a feeling. Give it time and wait for the clarity to come. I've heard more than once that smoking suppresses allergies. It's not a reason to keep smoking. Years ago I quit smoking. I quit for three years. I felt like I had been lied to. I didn't have more energy. Nothing tasted better, my sense of smell wasn't heightened. None of the wonderful things that were supposed to happen actually happened. In fact, when I got a cold or the flu, I got much sicker than when I was smoking. When I smoked, I never had to take a day off work because of illness. As a non-smoker, there were times I couldn't get off the sofa and into bed. After three years of waiting for the pay off I chucked it and started smoking again. In reality, smoking had not yet damaged my body so badly that I would tell a big difference. The answer was not to start smoking until I couldn't breathe, until I coughed to the point of blacking out. That was not the answer but that was what I did. One of the stupidest things I ever did was start smoking again and hang on until my body did get so damaged that the health problems started to show up. When you stop smoking, you change your future. You may not see a big pay off, all the things that you were told by others may not happen for you. But, you really don't want to stay a smoker waiting around until it gets bad enough that you do see a dramatic change. Hey Audrey....your 2nd sentence reads
My lungs feel better, and my cough is almost gone.
So.....ahhh hello.....can I add to that all the other stuff? Naw you know all the good things that are happening to you because you are choosing not to smoke. What did the eye doc say? "Eat more carrots!!!" I so believe that our attitudes are a "choice" we make just like stopping the smokes. When we are waking up in the morning we can REALLY say to ourselves "this is going to be a good one". Or we can groan and say "aww crap, not again". Please give it a try...make a conscious CHOICE tomorrow morning...it is working for me. Trust me it took some practice but I was shocked that it does work/help. Let me know about your eyes..."hey, maybe they really aren't blurry but since you use to get smoke in em' now they are clear and you are just now seeing the world is a crazy place!!!!"
