Tutti, I live alone and I know that the days and nights can be long. But once you have made that commitment to yourself and no one else you will then know that you want to quit more than you want to smoke. So believe in yourself, you have been given so much support here. Just remember that the Joy of the Lord is your strength, so hold on to your FAITH!!! Cigarettes Not Smoked

I once ruined a quit when I found half a pack under the seat in the car. It was another year before I could quit again. Don't do that, just get back on the horse and start riding. It was a slip, that's all, just one slip. Don't internalize it. Whatever your reason for considering quitting there is one thing you must know. Unless you are truly ready to turn your back on your smoking there is no reason to 'try'. If your will to smoke is greater than your will to quit, nothing will help you. But if you are genuinely ready to conquer your weakness to cigarettes then you will lay them down and fight with everything you have in you to stay quit. I believe that you can do it Tutti! Forget the past. Today is yours for the taking. It's your life..YOUR life! Take back YOUR life! I quit ct and the emotional attachment to cigarettes was harder for me than the physical cravings. I needed to do some soul searching and figure out why I actually "needed" a cigarette. Understanding why I smoked took a lot of effort and a willingness to learn new coping techniques. You'll have to figure out what works for you. There is one thing you can ALWAYS do though.... Always counter those so-called "reasons" to smoke with the truth! There is nothing good about smoking and everything good about quitting. Teach your mind to see that and stay focused on it. Why wait until tomorrow? Get right back on the wagon. Waiting simply allows you to keep smoking today. Don't do that. Stop now. Get rid of any cigarettes, ashtrays, butts or whatever. Make the commitment. It doesn't matter that you can't use an NRT. Lots of us had to quit cold turkey...it can be done. And MomMom, get rid of those cigarettes right now. There is NO good reason to keep them around. Don't allow yourself to imagine some emergency that might make you smoke. Make up your mind not to smoke. It's the only way.
