I am sitting here crying. I would go through hell week every day for the rest of my life not to hear what I heard.
I know how bad cravings are. I've had terrible ones. I've quit many times in my life, sometimes driven back to cigarettes by the longing and pain of the crave. I've had doctors tell me my breathing problems were caused by cigs and would get worse. It was not enough for me to overcome an intense craving.
There is no pain like having your loved one's life on the line. Not even bad news for yourself. The most intense craving I ever had, including the ones that sent me dumpster diving in the middle of the night cannot compare with this.
I only hope that the bleak future glimpsed today can be avoided. I hope we quit in time.

Thanks for everything. How do I get an IM? I don't see anything. Now that the shock has kind of worn off. We're just waiting to see the doctor and what he has to say about avoiding another stroke that could be major.
I am so glad we stopped smoking when we did. It might have made the difference between life and death.

Hi Try
I wish ease for you and your husband. Don't stem the tears - if they need to come then allow them - give full expression to your pain right now - its a good way to deal with it.
In my thoughts

tryagain,
It is a rude awakening for all of us when we quit to realize the damage we have done to our bodies. The addiction really blinds us to where we cannot see the control it has over us. Be glad that you are quit. Let this help strengthen your quit. Everything that happens in our lives, happens for a reason.
Also remember, that every day your body (and your husbands) is healing from the years of smoking. Take God's hand and let him guide you through this. I know that is easier said than done.
