Tony... Great thread.. Wow my life has changed alot since I quit. I too feel as since of control. I also feel smart.(Which is not something I feel often.) :8|: I can breath better, smell everything (which can be good or bad.) I love takin extra time with my children. Lovin the fact I don't have to go out side on cold nights. I can take a shower and smell my hair. Honestly I could go on and on. I will say this my son recently started walkin. He was sort of a late bloomer. For 3months now I have been patiently helping him walk everywhere. Now he is in to everything, and I have to watch him like a hawk. Neither would I have had the time or patients to do if I was still smoking. I also feel like this is just the beginning of something great to come. Like I am starting a new chapter in my life. I am starting to feel comfortable again. I like this. Being a non smoker has opened up my mind. I do not know whay I did not do this sooner. I think I am slowly changing into a different person. Of corse that is up to me what I become. With prayer and grace from above, hopefully that will be something of worth...... All to no longer smoking...I am lovin it... Tony, I quit almost 6 months ago and I am loving the person I am today. I'm not having to interupt conversations or get togethers (especially with my kids) to go outside and smoke. I have so much more time to spend with my kids. I wished I could say I breathe better but mine has gotten worse because smoking was hiding my asthma and now I'm learning to deal with that. At least asthma I can live with. My kids love to give me more hugs because "mommy doesn't stink" . More advantages than disadvantages. Tony Thanks for asking. Yes my life has changed and is still in the process of changing. My relationships have changed and I am a far different person today than I was Feb 16, 2006. Keep going in your quit, all kinds of stuff will be different. Have fun, and celebrate your new found life. Hi Tony, When you look at some stats of 'oldies' like me, the idea of being quit that long seems impossible. I remember being in awe of people who had long quits, and I also wondered how they felt.... Well, for me, after 40 years of smoking, it was an enormous life change. I was just explaining to someone the other day that I had never been an adult without a cigarette in my hand until this quit. That's a scary thought! I had a lot of 'growing up' to do... I had to learn to control my emotions, to learn anger management, to cope with weight gain, to organise my life differently and on and on....it was huge! BUT...I have also regained my self-esteem, felt a new sense of power within me at the massive task I have completed, feel such a wonderful freedom in my life to begin again. My only regret is that I wasted those 40 years, but I live true to my Mantra... NEVER LOOK BACK, THE FUTURE IS AHEAD!!! Lolly. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/25/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 739 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,893 Amount Saved: 3695 Life Gained: Days: 102 Hrs: 22 Mins: 21 Seconds: 20

Tony, Great topic of discussion. There are many advantages to quitting and many life experiences that individuals go through. Please share with one another and know that this quit can be different for everyone :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
