My dear Penguin, So sorry to hear that you've relapsed. I know you have worked incredibly hard to get where you were BUT I also know that when you are ready, nothing will stop you! Breaking our addictions to nicotine do make us look at our lives in a whole new light and sometimes it's not a pretty sight. I think too that making one monumental change in our lives precipitates other changes that we didn't plan for, good or bad. Hang in there!! And believe with all your heart that one puff will definitely lead to a pack a day! penguin, I guess there are some things that we just can't plan for, and we handle them from our emotional gut. Some things are just so over the top and our response rises to match them. But as things calm back down, we begin to look at how we can get our feet back on the ground and to a more stable place. Keep working, keep reading, keep learning, keep practicing. That's what we all must do. Hugs for you Penguin. For the pain of losing your quit and for the pain that precipitated it. I hope you are getting through that ok - and I look forward to seeing you back here. 'Morning penguin, Before my quit date I read many of your posts and you seem to be a strong person with much to offer. I know what it's like to relapse as this is my 5th quit in about 4 years and by the sounds of it you will learn from this relapse and be back on the horse once again real soon. You're truly an inspirational person and I treasure all that I've read from your posts. Wishing you all the very best and I'm sorry that you hit a roadblock. See you soon :) J xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 133 Amount Saved: $51.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 24 Seconds: 56

Hi Penguin, I am sorry to hear this. Many things in life are hard to deal with, especially during a quit. We know there is no excuse, but we know that will happen, good or bad, quit or not. It's great that you have resolved to keep trying and move along. Make a new plan with lots of detail for distractions and pending life situations that are stressful. Stick to your guns ! Penguin, Quitting is no easy task. You know that. You also know that it doesn't change anything and it doesn't help. But sometimes, we just have to "test it" for ourselves in order to realize how much we really, truly want to quit smoking. I know there are many people here who quit once and only once, and I commend them, although I am most certainly not one of them. I too had to learn the hard way over and over and over again until I was ready to say goodbye forever. I think that's what you're doing here Penguin. I think that you are learning to say goodbye, one trigger (or even a hundred triggers) at a time... but sometimes, there's that one trigger that you just "can't" say no to yet. You will. Mine was drinking with friends. I know it's easy to say that that's not as hard of a trigger to get through than something catestrophic, but for me, it was. Now, I don't have a problem with it... but a year and a half ago (and even as recently as a few months ago) I struggled to get through it. And you will learn how too. I know you will. Just believe in yourself. Tough situations will happen whether we smoke or not and I know from experience that the more we go through them smoke free, the easier the next tough situation will be to get through. I have no doubt that you will make it... when your time comes. Crave the Quit!
