Yikes! Season 3 is rough

Hi Windy! after doing yard work all afternoon, we sat down for a beer break and whammo, a big craving! I kind of had to laugh, I have been waiting for this one, as I spend alot of time in the yard and it was inevitable that sooner or later it was gonna hit! And I also know why. That would have been one of my favorite cigarettes, after the work is done, sitting down (Task smoker) and enjoying the fruits of my labor, sitting in the sun, havin a beer and smoke.......NOT! It was OK, I got thru it, it just ticked me off. But, That is why the cravings are harder sometimes, because it was an important smoke or a favorite smoke, and thats why it hits harder than the others! AHHA! So now, how do we prevent it from happening tomorrow?????? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 67 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,699 Amount Saved: $706.85 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 4 Mins: 58 Seconds: 11

Windy, Yes, it's true... you have to go through all 4 seasons (sometimes more than once) before you are truly free of the addiction. I believe that 100%! The good news is that in future years, you won't have as many problems with the season changes as you do your first year. I know for me, it took a good 18 months before I stopped having cravings (I mean, I still do every once in a while, like last night, but it lasted no more than 5 seconds... and then it never re-surfaced the rest of the night). Just know that once you go through Springtime triggers, your brain won't crave anymore when that season comes around again. Isn't that nice to know??? Crave the Quit! Windy, You are so tuned in, what is going on? You do not smoke, and distractions at heart, right? Rid yourself of the thoughts What is going on and why do you think about smoking, WHY?

Well...they have said you have to go through 3 seasons...I've made it through the fall and winter...Now the sun is shining, the trees are turning green and I'M CRAVING!! ... I was out with family on Tuesday, walked out onto the golf course and had a big fat crave. This week, I went away with a social smoker...After a couple coolers she was craving a smoke (AND I WAS TOO!) I told her that as a Social Smoker, she was genetically defective (just to make myself feel a little better) and explained that, just like an alcoholic, I couldn't have "just one cigarette" (but I sure wanted one) I know that, as a Smoker, I was always so relieved when summer came and I could feed my addiction without standing out in the snow by myself...The social world went outside and, suddenly, I didn't feel like such a pariah. The cravings pass and I haven't caved but a season of social outings, alcohol and easy access to smokes skeeeeeeeeeeeers me just a tiny bit. Anybody else have and difficulty with the change in season?
