What's So Good About Quitting?

for 17 år siden 0 232 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Alright, I can't make the argument that I smell pretty, at least with a straight face. But I, too, was a closet smoker, and it feels great not having to sneak around or run into people worrying if I smelled like an ashtray. What's so good about quitting? For me it's the whole package... I love that I smell so pretty - even without wearing perfume ! I love that I can taste things a whole lot better ! I love that I have (already) whiter teeth and fresh breath all the time ! I love that my home has an aroma of cooked foods, fresh flowers, etc etc...without the mixture of smoke mixed in ! I love that I made this decision and I am responsible for it, I own it, I am in control of it ! I love that I have met some of the warmest, supportive, caring people from all corners of the earth right here ! :) I just plain love it all :) J xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 269 Amount Saved: $102.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 5 Seconds: 33

Oh, where to start. I love taking that really, really deep breath...You know, breathing in more deeply than a person has to just to see if I'll cough or go into a wheezing fit and then, I don't do either. That feels so good. I love singing and hitting notes that I haven't hit in quite a while, my volume is louder again, my voice is clear, and it's fun again. Before, singing was becoming a bummer and real struggle. Of course, I love smelling good, my house smelling good, and all of that.t But here's the doozy...My daughter is 8 weeks pregnant and I soooooo love the fact that she can come over and spend time at my smoke free house. And I sooooo love the fact that my grandbaby won't smell smoke/nicotine in my house, car, on me. There many things are so good about quitting. Oh, I love the fact that my heart no longer flutters like it did before. That stopped right away. Being back in control & not being controlled by a legal drug. Making my children proud of me. I was a closet smoker also, like FreeMom and I love not having organize my whole day around sneaking in a smoke where I could. Going out to dinner with friends or other activities with non-smokers, my mind still immediately jumps to "Ok, I better hurry and smoke before we go so I can get my fix!", then almost as instant, I remember I don't have to "get one final smoke in" because "I DON'T SMOKE!!" and then I think, "I am so glad". What's so good about quitting???? Freedom, Freedom, Freedom...(That song is going thru my head) The freedom to breath freely! The freedom to smell! The freedom to feel emotions! The freedom to feel better! The freedom to wake up awake, not tired and dragging! The freedom to NOT have to carry cigs and all their accompanying junk. The freedom to not have to worry about the cost, the health, the second hand, the no smoking zones etc. etc. The freedom to enjoy life! :) :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,016 Amount Saved: $422 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 21 Mins: 49 Seconds: 5

I was a closet smoker, so for me I love the freedom and ease of everyday life. I don't have to hide and hope nobody sees me or smells smoke on me. I can just get into my car and go places without having to detour to smoke. - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 199 Amount Saved: $65.28 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 50 Seconds: 13

OK, so I've been really feeling good about this no smoking....I mean really good! I have more energy, I can breath better, and I can lie down without coughing. And I'm really proud of myself for doing it. Well, in the past few days my kids, who have never known me as a non-smoker, and who, when they were younger would beg me to quit until they gave up trying, have separately let me know how aware they are of what I'm doing. My son told me that the other night when he heard me laughing and laughing in my room, he first thought" What is she cackling about?"..lol..and then, "Wow! She is laughing and laughing and laughing! In the past she would have started hacking away." I went out to lunch with my daughter today, and she told me that I smell better and so does my house. Maybe little things..but they are big to me. I am in this quit for good, and for myself...but nice to know my darlings notice. Anyone else want to share What's So Good About Quitting? -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 918 Amount Saved: $149.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 52 Seconds: 48
